Profile

What's Your Favourite Way To Create?
I'm a visual artist (papermaker, printmaker, painter), and I also write, (journaling, some short stories, children stories, poetry) and I play a bit of piano and accordeon. So even though the visual arts are my main area, I couldn't do just that, I also have to write and play music. All the arts are interconnected and enrich each other.
Favourite Artists (in ANY creative medium)
Rufino Tamayo, Henry Moore, Camille Claudel, Botero, Georgia O'keefe, Jasper Jonhs, Paul Klee, Frank Lloyd Wright, Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, Ray Bradbury, Marguerite Yourcenar, Henri Troyat, Jean Giono, J,K. Rowling, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Roal Dahl, Tasha Tudor, Beatrix Potter, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, George Gerswin, John Cage, J.S. Bach, Santana, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque, Oscar Peterson, Pedro Almadovar, François Truffault, Carlos Saura
Greatest Creative Moment You've Had?
I can't single one out. I'd say the best is yet to come.
What's Your Biggest Creative Dream?
Again, I have more that one big dream. One is to exhibit my work in Japan and Australia and to work on creative projects with artists from these two countries. Another is to have a minivan and travel around to teach people papermaking with plants, recycled papers and old jeans and natural fabrics as a way of creatively recycling resources. I would like to get the whole community involved and eventually have a place where I can teach papermaking, with an art gallery and studios for artists to come and work on projects with me. And I would also like to publish my children's stories. I've written many that are in draft form and are begging to come alive.

Happy Valentine's Day

Just a quick note to all the wonderful people here at CCS to wish them all a Happy Valentine's day! Love! Chocolates! Kisses! And more love! Here are a few Valentine Day cards I made recently for a cardmaking workshop I was supposed to give. Except not enough people signed up for it. Well, at least it gave me a chance to play and make Valentine Day Cards. Claude Aimée

Let it snow, let it snow, let it stop!!!

Since I last posted about the snow, it hasn't stopped falling. The first big snow fall came a few weeks ago. We got about 30 cm (1 foot) of snow. The snow plow deposited a mountain of snow just in front of our driveway. It took about 3 days to clear everything. That was followed by more days of light snow, bitter wind, a cold spell. The winter routine is settling in: shoveling snow, getting some wood from outside and feeding the wood stove in the kitchen, making soups and stews to warm the belly… Continue

First Day of Snow

I woke up this morning and the ground was covered with a thin carpet of snow. The sky is white and in the tree just outside my window there are 6 cardinals hopping from branch to branch. It's the first time I've seen so many in one spot. Maybe they are having a little jamboree to celebrate this special event.

The chickadees don't seem to mind the cold weather and fly excitedly to the feeder, grab one seed and take off as fast as they came. The small downy wood pecker is pecking at the s… Continue

I missed you, folks!

The last few weeks I've been busy with a lot of projects and things I had to take care of. I also had to work on my project about starting a business. The course I'm taking is going well, I learn a lot every week and it helps me demystify a lot of things about the business aspect of starting a business. I've had a lot of homeworks to do and it took a lot of my time. I made sure I continued doing a bit of creative something every day or almost and didn't stop my morning writing. But I truly misse… Continue

More collage poems

Yesterday I felt like cutting up more words from magazines. This time I attacked four decoration magazines. The words are different from the Oprah magazines so it gives me even more choice of words and sentences to play with.

I cut up some colored paper then start rummaging through all the words scattered on my drawing table. The cat had to come visit just as I was picking words and sprawled all over the sea of words. I had to wrestle with him to be able to get to the words. He finally… Continue

sounds like you have a very full plate! I would love to take all of your classes!
I used to enjoy most - monotypes, especially the collage type process!!! I was always the last student in class gathering up all my supplies and various items, bits and pieces I'd brought for my prints
when I was teaching art at Helping Hands, for my lower functioning students we did a lot of monotypes just by painting on the table and then pressing the paper down on top and then pulling it up for a thrilling surprise! I kept many students entertained that way for their full class sessions :-)
However, I also enjoyed intaglio - acid etching I loved the involved process and then drypoint was cool but I almost burnished my plates all the way thru sometimes trying to change things and then making the same mistakes over and over again :-)
I guess the monotypes with collage was best for me

Claude,
You left me the nicest comment many months ago and I have not been on here as my life kind of turned upside down. I just wanted to say thank you and wish you a good 2008. I hope to participate more now that life has quieted down. Hope all is good for you! Pepper

Haven't seen you around for a while so thought I'd drop past and say hello. I loved seeing your fuller figure drawings...reminds me of me....I have put on a lot of weight due to health problems and never imagined I'd be a wonderful model for artists. I am not quite as big as your model. It is great to see all your fabulous art work. Do you do it everyday?
