"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." -- Annie Dillard

“We cannot bring order to the world or to our lives as long as we fail to recognize that, in reality, all human beings are holograms of humanity. We all reflect the whole, and it is essential for us to begin to think in this way.”

-- Wayne Dyer

When I’m feeling angry, sad or anxious, I ask, “How much of this is mine?” When I ask this question, a percent figure arrives in my head. Usually the number is 30% or less.

Those of us who are sensitive sometimes pick up on whatever emotional energy is hanging around in the environment, and we begin to experience those feelings. We may sometimes also experience physical symptoms that are similar to, or symbolic of, someone else’s experience. It feels like ours – we really do feel the emotions or physical or mental symptoms. But really, we are processing ‘generic’ emotion or physical or mental symptoms that belong to others or to humanity as a whole.

I’m usually relieved to learn it’s not all mine. Then, I can more consciously decide how I want to handle what I am experiencing.

I sometimes tell the angels (or the Universe or the Creator or whatever is a comfortable word) that I am willing to contribute to clearing planetary energy, but I would like it to be in some way that is not uncomfortable or debilitating for me. Or I ask the angels if they would please help me release this from my own energy field.

~ Bonnie Hutchinson

"The collective energy generated from the feelings, thoughts, and attitudes of the almost six billion people on this planet creates an atmosphere or 'consciousness climate.' Surrounding us like the air we breathe, this consciousness climate affects us most strongly on energetic and emotional levels."

-- Doc Childre and Howard Martin

"Who you really are is enough."

-- Oriah Mountain Dreamer

"Wherever you are is always the right place. There is never a need to fix anything, to hitch up the bootstraps of the soul and start at some higher place. Start right where you are."

-- Julia Cameron

"Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else."

-- Wayne Dyer

A Bad Habit

July 15, 2008 A Bad Habit Being Hard On Ourselves One of the key components of human consciousness that most of us need to address and change is our tendency to be hard on ourselves. We do this in ways that are both overt and subtle, and half the work sometimes is recognizing that we are doing it at all. For example, if we find it difficult to graciously accept compliments, this is probably a sign that we tend to be hard on ourselves. Other ways in which we express this tendency include never fe… Continue

From Silence to Lyricism

From The Dance Of The Dissident Daughter by Sue Monk Kidd For a long while now I'd felt the need to walk away from my long career of inspirational writing and hurl myself in a new creative direction. I felt ready for it, but I hadn't yet leaped, and I wasn't sure why not. Fear of failure? Lack of security? Lack of focus? Resistance to redefining myself creatively? Was it just easier to plan to write fiction or to plan to write the uncensored truth about women's spirituality than it was… Continue

Oh, will I ever get used to this board -- I am commenting on my own page, surely will have to erase and go to yours or does it end up there when I "Comment back"? I should know this by now.

I only joined MySpace at the prodding a friend. It's fun but I never got in the habit. It's so voyeuristic.

Yeah, I read a conversation between you and Dan about MIA, so I guess that inspired me, because I do love her. I saw her in concert 2 years ago. Awesome what she's accomplished -- starting with nothing. I was copying, but the guys started the reggae beat. I gotta say it's pretty easy once you've heard it done. We actually record everything we do in improv, glad you asked :) It gives me a chance to announce I've been working on sifting through them -- a project I've had since the beginning, 5 years ago!! Most of it is awful -- I already knew that. I came up with a couple of snippets I thought I'd put up just, you know, because I'm here, but the ones I want I have to edit and I don't have the software. So I thought I'd record them on my digital cam and upload that way. Gotta get to that.

Hi

So sorry I haven't replied prior to this, it's been manic! Thank you so much for the welcome, I am really looking forward to joining in and getting to know everyone here.

Oh, hey, fellow Beatles/Lennon fan I presume, I had a bit of an obsession with John, his wordplay and his acidic sense of humour. I would love to see the portraits you did of them in Yellow Submarine, I haven't gotten round to seeing if you found and posted them yet though.

Great picture of Hendrix!!
That picture was at the sun dial at Machu Picchu, which was actually chipped by someone trying to make a beer commercial... we were having a discussion that the commercial should have been about peace... and there I am :-)
Enjoy the rain..........

Barb, those photos show that your intuition was at work, your spirit knew what you wanted to express, on a deep level! I suppose we aren't alway aware how much intuition is involved in our creations, even when the creative process seems very intentional to us! And vice versa!

It's true, I gotta sing everyday. This bugs me a bit, because it really shows my age, but I can also look at it in the positive, as in I get to sing everyday, because that is also the truth -- and I must sing because I want to sing, which is even more powerful. Getting some new songs ... yeah! Something I haven't considered in ages! My friend's been asking me to do an open mike with him for years. It's really difficult not to be able to rely on your instrument though. The strangest thing has happened in the past year -- I've always had a strong middle range, not too much on top. Now I can't sing middle or low at all, but my top is awesome! Huh? I'm a smoker and was working, if anything, on the Tom Waits approach. At any rate, these registers have to get straightened out a lot. I did come out with two minutes of an MIA-type scat this weekend with my improv band. It was cool!
