Art Is Therapy!!

Last night I was (again) frustrated and quite angry with my out-of-state family. While you don't need to know those details, I wanted to share the outcome. Instead of sitting on the front porch making faces at people passing by, I decided to go up to my playroom and see what happened. My initial thought was that I'd just take a soft pastel and mash it into a piece of paper. For several minutes I thought about how that would feel. But I just couldn't do it. Instead, I took a gentler approach. Th… Continue

For Barb and Dabs and Everyone Who Loves QEII...

...a long time ago, I promised you I'd post this picture after you watched the movie, "The Queen." I'm not sure if you watched it yet or not, but here is the picture. It's been on my refrigerator for a couple of years, and having seen that movie this picture just speaks volumes to me. Take it for what it's worth. My fascination with Royalty has waned considerably the older I've gotten. But I still can't resist a great picture, like this one. I think I tore it out of a Time Magazine.… Continue

Happy Indendence Day!

To all my CCS friends: Whether you celebrate this day or not, I hope you make it a wonderful day! Keep in mind today the men and women from around the world who are disconnected from their families due to unrest in the world. My wish is for them all to be reunited and for these sens… Continue

Tonight, while looking for something about handwriting as an Art, I came across this article. It's perfect for what I want us to talk about. Please read it...or at least scroll down and then follow the instructions to a new discussion about Handwriting: "Art" or "Lost Art?" The Lost Art of Handwriting By: Don Tennant (22 Oct 1999) I've always said that the most useful course I took in high school was typing. Of course this was back in the days of manual typewriters, and all that clicke Continue

Six Months...

Today, June 3, 2008 is six months since my mother died. "Only six months?" I ask myself. Seems like six years...seems like six minutes... When I was going through my journal from our seminary days this week, I came across my notes from a class I took, presented by The (late) Rev. Will Spong (yes, the brother of the famous Bishop!). Will Spong was such an incredible guy! The very first time I met him, I didn't even know who he was. We had just arrived in Austin, Texas and were staying in an apar… Continue

Little Feat has always been a big favorite of mine. There's one called "Chateau La Feat '59 Boogie" that I can NOT find anywhere ... any chance it may reside at your place?

I thought you'd seen that pic before! Lin made it for me and I used it for quite a while ... well, quite a while for me, anyway ... LOL! Thinking of Lin today, and hoping for her to be back home and comfy with Lacey and Smokey soon ... that's the pits having to move out with Lacey feeling poorly ... sigh ...

Hi Mary,

Thank you for your words.
I think that one of the reasons I've felt so out of sorts lately is precisely because I don't want to settle for anything. And neither do I think I should give anything less than my full passion to the creative things I do.
And so when things become mundane I panic somewhat.
My friend went today. The still creative atmosphere lifted a little as I made her afternoon tea and I played the piano after for the first time in weeks.

thank you.
