Sights, Scents, Sounds, SENSES!

As creative artists, we rely heavily on our senses both to experience the world around us as fully as possible, and to express those sensations back through what we create.

Which of your senses do you rely most on? What do you create most with and through?

What's the connection for you between your senses and you creativity?

When have you noticed your senses are at their most heightened and receptive?

Which of your senses could you use more often and more deeply?

Thanks for sharing your experience, Debb...it made me aware that yes, even a stranger could share a passion! This I will remember, and be more receptive to interactions with strangers too!

That tapestry exhibit and your experience with someone so passionate as to share his collection knowledge with you is a special gift for you always!

it truly was & is... he was a special person for that moment & beyond as I've been able to look at pieces /prints/ tapestries since & with his shared knowledge I know more than I ever would have otherwise...

it was a gift... and lesson to listen to to ohers when they chat with you...

to paraphrase ( & I hope I don't offend as I have a very eclectic belief system) " angels speak to you at the most unexpected moments"

whichi is part of why I'll chat & listen to folks when those converstaions begin no matter where I am (& my hubby is even better at it than I... more empathic & a more active listener )

the voice of the above/beyond/god(dess) speaks to us first in whispers then louder then shouts then the 2x4 upside the head... I prefer to listen to the whispers myself if at all possible.

Debb what you said reminded me of a quote I have thought about often

"...nor does any one person stand completely alone in this world, for when he passes, he brushes, perhaps ever so slightly, upon others, and each is never quite the same thereafter." Louis Lamour

Debb thank you so much for sharing your insight. I am really working on hearing the whispers right now. Most of my life has been spent needing the 2x4 approach and I truly desire to be more aware to those whispers.

You are not alone, Melissa, in learning to hear the whispers! It is something that most of us need to learn how to tune in to...so distracted by the everyday world as we are...but it is possible! Don't give up your desire to hear them!

OH Debb...I totally believe that "angels speak to us at unexpected moments!"

I love those encounters...sometimes they are simply to cheer up! One day, after being sick and holed up for a while, I finally went out to do some food shopping...

A strange and funny looking man stopped me in the parking lot and asked me if I would like to hear two jokes...I agreed...he told me two corny jokes...and he made my day...and I was wondering if he was one of those angels! It was just so "out of the blue" and unexpected"...

You are so right! As always with me, I start from the backdoor to the front. So, I went through the 2x4 first, then the shout, then finally was ready to listen to the whispers.
