Hi Beverly,
I cannot make out the script in your page... I don't know maybe
there's a problem with my screen.
I can only see a wonderful white lion and nothing else!

Hi Bev,
How are you? I just visited my page for the first time in a few weeks, and saw a comment there from you that I had missed – it was from June 3rd! I am so sorry for not getting back to you! I usually let email alert me to comments and posts, and I don’t check my page very often, but I will have to start checking it more now. You asked about SoulCollage – I was just going to do it on my own, but now there is a new group at CCS led by a SoulCollage facilitator. I still haven’t done one yet … but hope to one of these days! I think the discussion is in the Collage Group. About American Idol, Holly watched it a lot, but Anna said she “didn’t like the singing” (which is all they do!) so she didn’t watch much of it! Holly really liked Alison, I think because she was a girl. How is your summer going so far? I have to tell you about a recent trip I took to Ocean City, MD. I saw lots and lots of birds, and thought about you the whole time. There were parrots in our lobby, and one looked like a parrot that you painted. And I even saw a red-winged blackbird! I took some pictures of him for you. I hope all is going well with you! Love, mo

Hi Beverly, thanks so much for your kind comments. I'll be sure to check out your blog and artwork when I get a spare minute. I am really glad my personality comes across in the way it does. Its quite gratifying to hear that. I really want to interact a lot more on here but there just doesn't seem to the time at the moment. Spread far too thin. Still I would rather have it that way - not enough time rather than bored with nothing to fill the day. I definitely can't claim that!

All the best and keep doing what you do.

Richard

Hi again ... have you ever heard of Soulcollage? I am just getting started with it, and it really sounds fascinating. Also, what did you think of American Idol? Quite an upset!

Bev, I just visited your blog and I am AWESTRUCK!! Your talent is beyond measure. your use of color and your free style is breathtaking and inspiring. I love your collage! And your beautiful, colorful birds! And your photos are amazing ... the one of Mary's cracked hands is so powerful. I hope you can read this ... I can't see what I am typing since it's over the lion. I wasn't able to comment on your blog without a Google account, but I will sign up for one. Love, Mo

Im very happy you like it and you have given me a new surge of belief to carry on writing. I will take time tomorrow to learn more about what you do as its bedtime here in Scotland! night night

To answer your questions: I only paint with watercolors. Sometimes, I use watercolor pencils to sketch when I am outside and then smooth them out when I get homw. My photography is another passion of mine; never go anywhere without my digital camera. I do not attempt to sell any of my photos, but I did in the past. Writing is not exactly a passion, but it is very important to me. I consider it more of a cathartic experience. I have taken several seminars on writing, both creative style, like memoirs, and non-fiction which could be marketable if I wanted to spend the time making queries, which I don't. My other hobby/little money-maker is paper-crafting. I teach a class now and then at local places but I really like to make things and give them away, usually it is cards for different occasions but sometimes collages or mini-works of art, to be displayed on a table easel. Bought a melting pot so I can dip paper pieces into beeswax for a different look. At the moment, I am planning and organizing my ephemera for a larger piece that I can get framed and hang somewhere in my home. There is always something brewing in my mind. When I get a couple hours for playing or creating, I pick up and work on whatever is handy. Thank Goodness I don't have a husband or little children that would require keeping my table clear for eating!!!! My 5-yr old grand-daughter is coming to stay for the week-end and we always have Art Camp while she is here. FUN!

Hiya Beverly
thank you for reading my words... it is good to know that they are seen.

as for the other....
Never give up on something just because there are others who do it -- your eyes are yours and the way you see is going to be different from everyone else ... the way you describe it will be your very own as well... your words are yours.

I've been looking on-line at the freebies like Photo-seminars, travel photography and reading photography newsletters & e-zines like Horizon workshops, apogee photo
I'm investigating on-line university options for getting my BFA in photography or MA in journalism... that will cost a bit so I'm saving, writing & taking pictures as often as I can -- I'm drawn to the photo work - I keep a camera with me all the time.... of one sort or another (like my cell phone camera even)
I need to post my photos on my blog and put more of them out there for commentary, as well as my writing but I think that I'll start here because this is a safer haven for constructive criticism and comments than the whole of the web ...
I should start a discussion in the photo section perhaps...

Yes of course there will be the "thank you for your submission but we choose someone else" just as there are with any work... as an artist you hear it more often because we are always working in or for different 'offices' (for lack of a better term)

And then there will be the most wonderful "Thank you, please sign the following release so we can publish" which will make up ten-fold for the "no thank you" notes...

I am looking at local photo workshops - there are several out of Santa Fe (just an hour up the road from me) that are very reasonably priced...

I'm using the tools that Dan has set out as well... the creative support structures within ourselves that he teaches us to use are really a good resource.
