I'd already seen this and intended to post a link to it on one of my blogs, so thanks for reminding me!

Thanks from me, too for posting this. What an enthusiastic woman. We as consumers must wake up and realize how powerful we are! We really do have the final say in what sells and what doesn´t. We don´t have to sit around and wait for our government to make laws for the environment.

There is so much we can do.
Here in Denmark, for example, over the course of 15 years, the sale of organic produce has gone from a small project for a few stoic idealists to a mainstream hit. The demand for it now is so big that the farmers can barely keep up and more and more conventional farmers are converting to organic production. Because it sells. It´s what the consumers want. If the consumers don´t see it in their local shops, they will ask for it, and the shops will want to carry the product if it is asked for enough. Just asking for something can really start a positive spiral.

Yes we have freecycle locally. It is a beautiful thing. We also have a local buy sell trade group, although not the same as free, it does keep items in circulation longer. :-)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I have been trying valiantly to get our family doing more and more recycling, not purchasing plastic water bottles, using a refillable thermos with my son's school lunch bag, less paper products, cloth napkins, and generally, anything I can think of to make me purchase less. We all know how important recycling is, but one never thinks about it quite in the way Annie Leonard presented it. What an eye-opener.

If you or anyone else you know is interested, check out Freecycle. It is an organization that I belong to that is committed to keeping reusable things out of landfills. I've gotten so many wonderful items and given away much to other people that can make use. They should have a listing on their site for local groups in your area.

Best!

Thanks Danielle. I am glad I watched that and this is one I am going to pass on to everyone I know. She states it very well.
