I got my latest two paintings finished before I went away but didn't have time to take the photos and post them. I'm very happy with the new looser style I achieved in 4 and I hope that it is going to develop in the next pieces in the series.

You can now see the finished items on my WordPress blog

Gorgeous Cherry! So much depth in your work, figuratively and literally! Way to go!

Dan, its a series of 7 vaguely relating to the seven parts of the Handless Maiden story - originally told, according to Clarissa Pinkola Estés, over 7 nights, 7 months or even 7 years depending on how long was needed to assimilate the lessons. I would like to say I will have completed the project in 7 months but its going to be more like 8 given my slow working speed!

Sabrina, thanks for taking the time to look and comment:-)

All great to hear Cherry! How many do you plan to do in this maiden series, or are you just going with it while you're inspired? I know what you mean about doing a series, I really enjoy doing a larger project that's made up of smaller connected pieces, like my current Caspian and Esra series of poems.

I wish you many more "illuminations" : )

DJ: Working in series really brings its own rewards...seeing one piece against another helps me measure my progress...see that there IS progress...and the whole thing has a momentum of its own which carries me along. I'm not experiencing the same ups and downs I usually do when I work on stand-alone pieces...I guess I feel that the whole will make up for some of the deficiencies of its parts!

Think we'd better wait until I FINISH the whole series before booking Carnegie Hall, don't you?

Robyn: Thank you, please make sure its on ice as its extremely HOT here!

Yes, the should-haves and could-haves are certainly a spur (tho' u know your sculptures always look purrfect to me)...I am beginning to see that they are the thread that eventually weaves all the separate pieces of work together. This is the most sustained period I've ever had of making completed artworks and I can see that it brings with it a whole new set of illuminations.

Yes, Dan, its supposed to be a sort of yin yang with the moon and the sun providing the inner circles of the yin yang. You'll have to read my WP blog if you want to know how I arrived at that;-)

You're so right, Robyn...This makes it hard for me to hang my own artwork in my home, since I'm forever critiquing it! ...lol!

Cherry, each work I complete brings on a whole spate of shoulda's/ coulda's which lead me to the next piece where I experiment with the shoulda's from the previous piece.
