I will occasionally post blog posts here. Especially when they have something to do with creativity.
New Moon in Libra
The sun and the moon are in the same sign at the time of the New Moon. Your emotions and intellect are on the same page at this time, therefore it’s an opportunity to set things in motion. The New Moon is a time to start new projects and make new plans. This is a day to plant seeds for a new you or a new future. The New Moon in Libra is at 10:34pm PDT. This New Moon is all abou… Continue

Mars in Leo~Mars will be in Leo for the next 7 and a half months. Instead of approximately one and a half months it spends in each sign. Depending upon where Leo falls in your birth chart it can mean different things for you. Creativity, play, children, risk, and romance will be the themes for everyone for the next seven and a half months. Let your inner child out to play!

There was a poetry reading at the Aberdeen Library last night and I read 7 of my poems. There were 9 other poets reading with diverse subject matter and style. I think it went pretty well. There were only about 12 people in the audience. My friends Kari and Joy came along to support me. We ate dinner out at the local Chinese Buffet and then went to the reading. We each took turns, then went around again to read more poems. I read "Svanesang", "My Habit", "Summer at the Aquarium", "Fish Farts","H… Continue
For Camille.
Here is one of my favorite poems by one of my favorite poets. If you have never read her, I would recommend reading some of her poems.
For My Lover, Returning to His Wife
She is all there.
She was melted carefully down for you
and cast up from your childhood,
cast up from your one hundred favorite aggies.
She has always been there, my darling.
She is, in fact, exquisite.

and as real as a cast-iron pot.
Let's face it, I have been momen… Continue
These are two poems I wrote for a challenge on Poetbay.com. I had never tried this form before, but I had a lot of fun with it. (I love this time of year, by the way).
2. Write the poem in the form of a rubaiyat. A rubaiyat is a series of rubais, which are quatrains, rhymed a-a-b-a. They may either be connected in subject matter, or not.

But always in my heart strikes fear
Of crowds and lights and jolly St. Nick
Of eggnog pressed upon me with good cheer… Continue
The conference wrapped up yesterday with a group chat. Imagine 70 people in one chat. Wild! Well Val and Lin and I attended the conference. The boards are still up for awhile which is good because there is a lot to read. If anyone would like to go to next years conference here is the link to the Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/2009MuseConference/
The deadline for signing up is August 1st, 2009. The conference is FREE, unlike real world conferences which can cost anywhere from $150 up… Continue
I'm creating a few new writing groups tonight. There are a bunch of art groups, but only one writing group. I personally would like places to discuss different types of writing with writers who are writing the same type of thing. I know a couple people on CCS wanted to start their own writer's group. This is not to take away from that. I'm still waiting for that one. I want to join up! Anyway, if anyone wants to join the new writing groups and/or start discussions, go right ahead!
