You can still sign up for this. You will make an 8.5 X 11 in collage about your home town (area) and we will swap it when everyone is ready to mail. It could be fun!
On another note, I dedicated a photo to Dan over in my
http://swallowcliffs.blogspot.com/ blog. Come see it if you would like.

In the Collage & All group we are doing a post card swap and you can play too, if you want. Any one can join until October 7th... that's tomorrow! So, if you have been thinking you might, you best do it soon! And interesting aside came up in this post card discussion about tip ins. I had heard of them but did not really get what they were about. After a bit of research, I now know they are a "page added to an existing book" by using different means like gluing, adding in between two other pa…

Just for fun, I started the post card swap. I have already almost finished the card I am collaging. Soon, I will be scanning it so I can post it everywhere I visit!
I joined in Dan's October 30 Days of creating... I create everyday so post something there everyday.
I finished up the ABC ATC cards D is for Drawing, and have the envelopes ready too.
I started a wood batik today.
I did a drawing in my "sketch every day" sketchbook.
I am generally just reading for pleasure, rather than self improvem…

All you have to do is make a comment before October 7 (midnight), then make a collaged post card and send it by October 14. Post cards are a fun size to work on, not too small, not to large. I signed up for the September 30 Days of Creativity group, and thanks to Dan, I am doing something all most every day. I think I missed one day, due to a change of venue here, we went camping and I just missed a day. ??? I try to pop in and read and reply to some of the people who are taking the big step of committing to doing something creative everyday... But, to the whole grooup... keep up the great creative spirit!
But, I have had lots of creative things going on, really. My second alphabet…

School has started around here... does that matter? Well, it sort of signals the end of summer. I keep thinking I should do more here at CCS and more art, but summer activities have sorta been the norm instead. So, I have been telling myself, "when summer is over" you will do more art. I have been doing some artsy things, but nothing I feel should be posted here. I still try to add something to my blog:
swallowcliffs.blogspot.com/ as often as usual, however. I know as the weather cools and I hav…

Creative activities are what keeps me happy. I have involved myself with several "group creative swaps." They are keeping me busy. My "zines" are progressing daily, and looking good. They have to be sent in October. My "lost marbles" swap is coming together too. Today I worked on mini marble bags to put a marble in so they will be protected a bit extra when mailing. And, today, my "art stamps" are in the envelope... waiting for the address to send them.
Soon, I am going to get back to my "painti…

I have been busy with some group art activities that are soooooo fun.
The first one is in a group where we started a RR with a "Wreck This Journal" theme. We all made a journal with "wrecking" instructions on each page. Then we all mailed them to one of the other members of the group. After two weeks we send the one we received on to the next person and so on. If you are not with the "Wreck This Journal" mania, do a google search for it. Fabulous way to get past having to be "perfect" with your…

When I first retired, I thought I would make art and sell it. With encouragement from CCS people (you know who you are!) I opened an ETSY store, and listed a few things. But, after a few months I realized... I don't want to be bothered with posting and pricing and especially shipping. YUCK! I would rather be creating. So, I stopped that avenue of thought. But, a problem is what to do with the stuff I make? Lately, I thought, I need a partner... one who loves spending time on the computer and pac…

I am hoping that someone can tell me.... was there a discussion in CCS dealing with cooking with lavender? And can you tell me where that is? My lavender is finally ready to be used so thought I might bake up something totally lavender smelling!

"Transartistic meditation
June 26, 2009
Dear Carol,
I'll have to explain myself. Many years ago I took a course in Transcendental Meditation (TM), and since then I've painted a few paintings (FP). The idea of combining the two has been sitting cross-legged between my ears ever since.
One of my early problems with TM was forgetting my mantra. Sorry to say I often had to phone my guru Ralph. One day I decided to customize what Ralph taught so it was mo…

I am still exploring the idea about the Kingdom of Sigh. I found a link that talked about Language of Sighs, but can't find it now. Grrrrrrrrr! It talked about things that make us sigh. I am trying to make a list and so far I have listed chocolate and cheeseburgers. Since that is rather a short list I was wondering, what makes you sigh? Could you please add to my list?

On one of the discussions here, earlier in the year, we talked about "sighs", I think because Barbara posted something in JC discussion, that had to do with the kingdom of sight... but for some reason, when I was browsing, all I could see was the kingdom of sigh.. and this just has stuck with me, for whatever reason. I always planned to do a piece of art about it... haven't done that yet but today I found this link and I laughed as it reminded me of the Kingdom of Sighs... but this about the Lan…

I love surprise packages. I love getting surprise packages in the mail. Today, I received a surprise package in the mail. It is an interesting composition book. Black flocking on white of a beautiful dragon. I don't know why I got the package, but the surprise and gift is gratefully accepted. Wow! Thanks to the generous and lovely Barbara Ann! How lucky am I to have such a great CCS friend?

I am not so good with words. Sometimes I read posts from others and comment, but for the most part, I don't know what to say, nor how to say it. Someone said once they thought it was the responsibility of ALL members to comment. I also read that some persons call people like me lurkers, because we are just here but not commenting. I learn lots by just reading and lurking. I learn new ideas, new terms, new ways, new all kinds of things. Generally speaking, if something really moves me, or if I ha…

I recently read a suggestion to "doodle" whenever you can, where ever you are. I found a small journal book and dug out my markers and colored pencils which I have been keeping on the table next to my "tv watching" chair. And since I am not too much into TV, but DH likes me to sit with him, I have been drawing and playing and journaling in my small journal. I like this!

When we had our Art Gallery, one of the things that sold so well were mirrors! We decorated so many mirrors... If you have looked at the pictures I posted, you will see some mirrors I covered with leather from recycled cowboy boots. Those were really popular since that was during the time of "cowboy" mania. I also decorated some frames with fishing motifs, and one that I did not get a picture of made from an old rusty metal horse tank that I cut and bended and it made a beautiful frame! One time…

My wood batiks. I started doing these one day while camping. Everyone was out on the boat fishing and I was alone. I always keep candles in the camper for emergency light. I had read about batikking, but never really tried it. I had a piece of wood grain paneling in the camper too. So, I drew a picture on the wood and then using wax, I masked out places where I thought the wood would look good showing in the picture. Then painted, then waxed, then painted, then waxed, etc. Finally, I gave it a b…

I have been doing a bit of organizing hoping to be able to move my studio time back out to my roomy area in the garage that allows me to get messier with art supplies. I actually had myself convinced that "spring" was here. Well, it has been so cold and we have had snow a few days ago. But on the up side my apricot trees are in bloom, and look lovely. But on the down side, they will probably get frozen. So, will straightening out things I found a box with some photos that I took of art work I so…
