Hi Shanak,
Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I am in grad school and this semester has been incredibly work intensive. I am close to DeKalb Co. I attend a class at the Appalachian Craft Center there..it is beautiful as all of Middle Tennessee. We are warming up now and I have gourd seeds starting in little cups inside the house. I have never made a musical instrument but would love to make a drum. What instruments did your husband make? And the wedding photo is beautiful! Thanks for contacting me!

Hi Shanak
Congrats on your pregnancy, not long to go now!
Beautiful wedding photo.
Hope you are making time to relax too. Life does get busy doesn't it?
Do you know what you are having? How exciting if you don't and still how exciting if you do.

Okay, I'm back finally!!!! Been thinking about you guys a lot, its been spurring me on day by day. Believe it or not I'm 7 months pregnant now. Between that and starting up the school year teaching again has made me very busy. But now I'm back. Still working towards my goals. I have 3 shows I am entering this month so I will be reaching one of my goals finally!

Inspired again to write when I saw your art work particularly the line drawing and your use of color. Congratulations on your marriage....you will be busy...probably on a honey moon.
I am going to try some more felting so must remember that you have the skills to help.
I should do a piece today.
Lots of love from Susan in Australia

Profile Information

What's Your Favourite Way To Create?
Sewing, dyeing, spinning, felting
Favourite Artists (in ANY creative medium)
Gustav Klimt, Minnie Evans, Howard Finster, African textile artists, Marc Chagall, cave painters, Franz Kline, Robert Smithson. My absolute favorite is Andy Goldsworthy who is a photographer as well as an earth artist. He is awesome!

Favorite music is African of any kind, good drum beats and favorite band of all time is Baka Beyond. Love bluegrass and folk music too.
Greatest Creative Moment You've Had?
While in college my teacher made me sketch and rework a design over and over for about 1 1/2 months. Every time I thought I had a good design I had to sketch again. One day it clicked and we both knew I had a great idea for my furniture piece. This showed me the power of tapping into your subconscious and choosing not to go with the most obvious solution.
What's Your Biggest Creative Dream?
I don't dream of big money or fame, but rather touching the lives of others and inspiring them to be creative. That's why I am an art teacher. For myself, it just brings me great pleasure to always have a project in the works. My medium changes with the seasons, currently it is sewing, oil pastels, oil painting, pen and ink. Talk to me in 2 months and it will be something new.

Baby stuff and recent updates.

Now that I'm having a baby I suppose I should be knitting some booties or something! Well I decided I would sew a sling to carry my baby in and that has been keeping me pretty busy. Right now I am working on the applique for it and it will even have some padding in it...it will be the high end of baby slings! Can't wait to post a picture.

Since it's been awhile since I've posted, I should get you all up to date. I have taken a pottery class and joined the watercolor artist guild. Doing… Continue

Finally accomplished one goal!

Well one of my goals inspired by Dan's newsletters was to put my work out there in the public. So I have found my first store to work with up here in Alaska. The owner was excited to be selling my jewelry, yarns, and scarves and had many good suggestions for more products. This is good news because I have spent a lot of money on my creative endeavors and maybe I'll make some of that money back!

I've been away....

Sorry everybody for being away so long but I do have a good excuse! I got married (finished sewing my dress) , entertained relatives during fishing trips, and now my phone line and internet connection have been out for 7 days! I am hoping they will fix it soon. Regardless, I am back via library connection and ready to see your posts!
