Surprise!

Imagine my surprise to learn that my collage art for our poetry book "Lifelines" http://tinyurl.com/72cf6jb by the Poetic Muselings (which includes me) has been nominated for the Preditors and Editors best book/ebook cover artwork!

What an honor to be nominated- the only thing better would be to win! If you want to try and make that happen, vote for me and the cover at this link:…

Mandala-Lin

Mary sent me a luscious link about mandalas, which have fascinated me from my earliest days. Not only do they speak to me spiritually, they are beautiful works of art as well. Here's the link: http://sacred-circle-mandalas.blogspot.com/ and there is a related link from the page here about which I'll speak later. And Barb created a lovely mandala for Becca to take with her to the hospital.

Do That Recycle-thing

Salvage a little of that deluge of junk mail that comes in through the mail slot or into the old mailbox six days a week and use it for your art! Just get a bit creative and think outside the box.

I save the animal pictures and text off Sierra Club, Wilderness Society and Humane Society mailings for use in collage. The collage "On Thin Ice" above was done with a lot of those materials.

Other mailings yield photos of people,… Continue

My Dog-Child Lacey

My Shetland Sheepdog dog-child Lacey had a biopsy Monday, and the vet called this evening with some inconclusive results. There were spindle cells in the tissue sample (not good) so the tumor is either a fibroma (benign) or a fibrosarcoma (aggressive cancer). The sample was too small to tell which one, so another biopsy is needed. Either they numb her and cut out a bigger sample or else take out the whole tumor and have… Continue

My dear friend Becca needs some CCS support

My dear friend Becca could use some of our fantastic CCS support. She learned today she will be facing heart surgery in the very near future, to replace her aortic valve. She will be seeing doctors tomorrow for more details. Please lift her up in prayer and send healing energies her way. Thank you.

A little story I wrote...

The Big Dump

“Hi Ima.” Dear God in heaven, are you kidding me? Don’t tell me, let me guess? I get to listen to you complain about this for the umpteenth time.

“Yeah I heard from Dave.” And Sarah. And Paul, Melissa, and Carmen. Probably from the check-out lady at the grocery store too. Hell, it’s probably on the five o’clock news by now.

“Sorry about that.” Not really though. You did this to yourself by taking the jerk back after he tap-danced on your… Continue

Stunning Sculpture

Just ran across a stunning image, Domain Field Antony Gormley, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, England, 2003:

Looks as if full body casts were made, then filled with the metal spikes soldered in place. So stunning! What an imagination the man… Continue

DreamLand Calls

I caught about 45 minutes of a television program today that absolutely fascinated me called "In Your Wildest Dreams" on Discovery Health today, Saturday, 2 PM eastern. In it, three people whose recurring or frightening dreams were impacting their lives received help from professional dream interpreter Lauri Loewenberg in learning to recall, decipher, and ultimately control their dreams. It was eye-opening. If you get a… Continue

The Source of Creativity

Some major kewl info on creativity found on the website of a fellow (or fellowette) CCS member Charlotte Rains Dixon called "This is Your Brain When it is Creative", here. At least for jazz musicians, an MRI has shown that creativity is like a dream state: "Creativity in the form of jazz improv utilized the same parts of the… Continue

The First Totem

Once upon a time there was a woman who was not very wise. Before she went to sleep one crisp autumn night, she asked her spirit helpers to send her a totem in her dreams, since she had heard about totems and that they were useful to people, so she wanted one for her very own self. She fell in the deepest of sleeps and awoke in the light of dawn with a start, sitting up in the bed, saying "A tortoise? My totem is a tortoise? I don't believe it!"

The silly woman had been expecting… Continue

Memories of Apples

My teeth pierce the shiny red skin and sink into the crisp white flesh,

droplets of sweetness escaping the corners of my mouth but soon rescued

by the tip of my tongue. I relish the sound of the crunch for it means

perfect ripeness and freshness. The aroma is delectable, that

apple-scent that conjures up more scents like cinnamon and even more

exotic spices like nutmeg and allspice. My wrist rotates the fruit to

keep it in contact with my nibbling teeth, and all… Continue

You fur-babies are darling!!! Here is one of Sasha last winter:

She is a Golden Retriever/Black Lab mix (I think she may also have some German Shepherd in her, but who knows...she is pure-bred LOVE. ♥

Hi Lin...the puppy is my Sasha when she was about 6 months old. My puppy is now 3 years old. I should post a few of her current photos...she was the most adorable puppy and not she is just beautiful (all 80 pounds of her...lean and tall). Do you have pictures of Smokey and Angel? I saw Lacey...she is beautiful...it has been a few years so I imagine she might be in doggy heaven. I am looking forward to getting to know you Lin. Hugs, Angi
