With the 'fear' issue, I think one very real help in getting over it is to participate in creativity forums where you can post 'silly' work to an audience of friendly fellow creativity journeyers. If you feel 'safe' that they will encourage you, it…

As I am just now returning to playing in watercolors, the first medium I ever embraced in my life, I especially love this image. You captured the action of the hound so well, his playfulness. Love the interesting values on the dog and the touches of…

new box of colours arrived today

My early Xmas present (to myself) of a beautiful box of Winsor & Newton oil colours arrived to day. How long will I be able to keep my fingers off it, I wonder?

I have been using their alkyds and their student winton range of oils, as well as the water mixables, but these are the top of the range paints. They look so good in their wooden box. I must have thought myself worth it! At the moment, I plan to use them for the final glazes on paintings to see how they feel and to see if they are m… Continue

Oils are my new favourite paint!

Oils are enjoyable for me to use recently. Mostly I am messing around with slapping paint on and seeing if an image appears. I think all this bravado with the brush/knife marks will transfer to my realistic painting when I get around to doing that again... kind of loosening it up. On the other hand, I may just like all this abstract work so much I may never go back to 'realism'. I laugh out loud and smile and generally enjoy the abstract-whimsy style so much when I am in the midst of it. For rea… Continue

Trying the marshmallow cookie

Yesterday I was working on the sleepy lizard and decided to try marshmallow thinking. I thought of floating marshmallows on hot chocolate. So I did a small watercolour of the lizard (my chocolate) and floated my OP on top (marshmallows). First time I've used OP over waterco… Continue

Hi June- Thanks for liking my work. LOL. That sounds kind of dorky. I could have sworn I sent you another message- not sure if it's me or if it's the internet, as I don't see the message now. Thank you thank you!

Hi June,
I am so glad to have joined the painters group here. I have been involved with CCS only about 2 months and am in VOG, poetry, haiku. So I wanted to expand myself. I love acrylics and watercolors and more recently collage. I am really inspired by your beautiful paintings and your website. You are such a colorist, which I am too. I'm also trying to get my work out there more, maybe try Etsy and ArtFire in the very near future. If you get a chance, go to my blog and/or picasa website links. I'd love your thoughts.
Looking forward to our painting adventure together.
Take care.

June thanks for the comment, I am actually a counselor, I was doing life coaching for several years and wasn't able to be as creative as I wanted to be, but now I can integrate creativity more with clients young and old. I work with victims of abuse and assault so most of the work involves trauma.

June,

May I comment on what a wonderful artist you are! I sat looking at your photo collection of some of your work and it was so beautiful. I am especially attracted to your paintings. Each one has made me feel something powerful in one way or another. There is some amazing energy in your work!

Hi, I am Back. I hope to upgrade my internet connection soon though. I am on dial-up at the moment and feeling the restrictions.

Hi Susan, I haven't been to the painting group yet. Did you sort the problem with the salt?

Usually, a light brush will take off most of the salt when the paint is dry!
