Welcome :) I started this group to post and give/receive feedback on specific projects. For myself, I'd prefer to do it here, rather than in my blog. Whatever your reason...hope you will join me! Start *your own discussion* to contain your work/s

welcome to CCS, I hope you'll continue to put your work "out there"....usually someone can relate to the work we produce.

Awesome wordsmithing, Alexis. There are some great passages here... "She's too afraid of herself And it's not your fault -" and... "Her mind is trapped in a million places" and we can all identify with... "For she cannot see today Yesterday keeps ta…

I'm glad you took the plunge, Alexis :) This poem really spills over with confusion and indecision! Right up until the last when "she makes up her mind". I really like this part: It's been so long now Too long? For she cannot see today Yesterday ke…

I enjoy poetry because everytime I read a poem, and it does not matter how many times, I always see something different in it. It could be the mood I'm in, the colour I'm wearing or perhaps I've had a glass of wine and willing to let my defenses dow…

Favourite Artists (in ANY creative medium)
I love most music - Counting Crows has amazing poetry. I have recently discovered Joseph Arthur - the words he uses and the way he uses them, inspires me to keep writing.

Greatest Creative Moment You've Had?
I find it a bit disturbing that my best work comes out when I'm a little sad. I suppose I just don't have time to sit and write when I'm happy and busy. But then some of my favourite poems have been put to pen when I'm feeling like I have nowhere to go but to paper.....

I wanted to write something today....

I wanted to write something today
Something that means so much more
Than the words it is written with
The ink it's written in
And the paper it is on.
I want you to smile when you read it
And realise you are on my mind.
I want you to read my soul
And see it can never be complete
Unless you are there.
But I don't want to have to tell you
I need you to just know

Finally putting my poetry out there...

I have been incredibly reluctant to put any of my work "out there" - perhaps mostly fear has kept me from expressing myself freely. And it's strange, because, if you pushed me to confess about what I am afraid of, and I could not honestly say whether it is because my words are good enough or just plain terrible... What a dilemma! But here goes (and the only reason I'm doing this is because I suspect that less people would read this than if I posted it onto my Facebook profile....) Here is one of… Continue

Welcome to CCS Alexis,

Happy to see you are joining groups already. Maybe you can give me some poetry tips! I took part in the Writer's Market Poetry Challenge this April where we wrote a poem a day- it's posted throughout a Writers Clique discussion. Very challenging to write to topic and style, but a good learning experience..

Hi and welcome Alexis...

Agree on Counting Crows, some of my favourite lyrics:

Step out the front like a ghost into the fog / where no-one notices the contrast of white on white...

Anna Begins especially, all of it!

"And every word is nonsense but I understand"...

Welcome to CCS, Alexis! Wonderful that you have recognized too many great creative moments to mention ... sometimes, upon joining CCS, there are those who can't even bring one to mind. Counting Crows are one of my faves, too :) Anne's right, you are our 300th member ... that's just gotta be auspicious for us all :) Check out the groups and holler if you need any help with anything on the site ...
