Shelley, what kind of paints an paper did you use? The Cassou-recommended items, or some other materials?

Thank you so much, Shelley, for letting me know about your painting...It is absolutely powerful and looks extremely uncensored and very authentic!!! The painting reminds me very much of a healing shaman's painting! Incredible! Please let me know when you post more paintings!

Hi Shelley,
What an intriguing painting! I like the way the entities are outlined ... I like contrast a lot :) So many subtle details to take in! How long did you work on this intuitive painting?

I came here from seeing your comment on Camille's page ... she may not be online for a bit ... her boyfriend is hospitalized and gravely ill. Check out the blog she posted on 8-20, Prayers for a loved one, you can find it on her page. Extremely sad times for her ... I don't know when she will feel up to being active at CCS again but we'll sure be here when she does.

I keep a daily journal that I write in as much or as little as I feel like. I also write a gratitude journal at bedtime working through my day writing what I am grateful for. I also write about any problems i am having and clear my mind ready to sleep.
Your collage journal sounds interesting. What do you do in it? Do you do large collages and writing or just collage?
lots of love from susan in australia

Hi Shelley! Oh how I wish I was a productive painter like Michelle Cassou! But I am glad that you enjoy the ones posted. I want to start again, but it is scary to start after not painting like that in awhile...
Technique just comes intuitively. It is so freeing not to have to worry about, composition, color choices, subject, proportions,perspective...I love not having to make decisions in the paintings, and not planning anything, but to just paint through them...I get a lot of mud paintings also, but as Cassou and a member reminded me recently, the mud periods are temporary and are sort of like a clearing out, or cleansing process needed to evolve.
It is cool to go back and look at them! There are some x-rated paintings that still shock me! The finished product is always a surprise! Is it that way for you also?
Have you posted any of your intuitive painting on CCS yet?
I will have to do some perusing... You already know that I think your collages are awesome!!!
What is your preferred medium? Collage or painting?

Great to see all your wonderful collages. I also keep lots of journals. What ones do you keep? Do you write everyday like I do?

Hi Shelley, How fortunate for you to have a job where you get to spend your lunch time making fabulous collages!

Yes Michelle Cassou books have been my painting bibles over the past ten years.

With out reading those books these paintings might never have been created:

It would really be pleasure to see your intuitive paintings also! Will you be posting them at CCS?

Profile Information

What's Your Favourite Way To Create?
I love to draw, collage and paint intuitively/spontaneously. I also am a keeper of journals of every kind, writing, dreams, poetry, collage, inspiration, drawing and watercolor
Favourite Artists (in ANY creative medium)
I love artists on the healing, intuitive path...Painter Michele Cassou, Dancer Gabrielle Roth, Collage Artist, Seena B. Frost. Mary Rockwood Lane and Micheal Samuels, authors of Creative Healing are inspirations to me.
Greatest Creative Moment You've Had?
After my daughter was born, my body started to speak to me. I began to go down to my studio at night and paint and draw spontaneously. My paintings would heal me without words. Sometimes I would paint all night. I was a gallery artist at the time and it felt so good to just express myself without having to think of an end product. It was at that point that art became transformational and healing for me. It helped through some intensely difficult times in my life.
What's Your Biggest Creative Dream?
I am in the process of writing a book about my creative/transformational process. Freedom of expression in my paintings, especially around the theme of sexuality, is a current passionate goal and exploration.
