"Life is a blank canvas and it's up to you what kind of artwork you want to be -- impressionistic with muted, subtle hues or abstract with bold lines and striking colors. Just make sure your portrait isn't a still life."

How are things going with your mom & dad? I'm reading Dance of the Dissident Daughter by Sue Monk Kidd, ever read that one? Also The Aladdin Factor by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. Working on some gargoyle faces in oil pastel for the Four Faces group here ...

Morgaine? come out, come out, wherever you are ...

Have you noticed the discussion about personal posessions - burden or blessing, that your last blog post sparked? We are all getting to know each other a lot better by chatting about our "stuff" ... ha ha!

Are you doing any painting?

I haven't progressed any further with the one I started back in November.

I was doing some re arranging and organizing and came across a book in my bedroom that I had forgotten all about buying on one of my thrift store book buying sprees. It's "The Goddess Paintings" by Susan Seddon Boulet. How I love her art work ... if I could produce images like that, I'd be in so HAPPY! She was such an awesome and intuitive artist.

The Saturday before, we went to a costume party at a place called The Black Horse Saloon and danced our butts off. I was a witch, and Cliff was a retro looking blues dude ... I used black tempera paint on his face and gave him BIG sideburns, goatee, and enhanced mustache and eyebrows. We had so much fun!

Halloween night is always quiet here, too ... too cold usually, so most of the kids go to the malls or whatever.

Miss you over at Goddess Creations ... I'm reading a lot of stuff ... finding my long neglected feminine ...

Started a painting last Friday and plan to work on it some more this week end. The beginning stages are posted on The Big Weekend Yes discussion.

Hugs!

Hi, Barb -

Is this where I comment back? Anyway, thanks for asking. I've missed a couple of classes, but never two in a row, so I'm hanging in there. Affording them is difficult, but it's something I feel I have to do right now while I feel up to it. I may not be able to later in the winter.

The Holidays - it was quiet. We don't get trick-or-treaters out here, which I really miss, but I made dinner for my family and made offerings to the ancestors and nature spirits.

How did you celebrate?

Good Morning Morgaine!

How are the art lessons going for you? I sure wish I could fit some classes into my budget ... I did last year around this time, Pastels and Acrylics, and I loved them so much! I suppose I'll just have to stop procrastinating and do it on my own at home ... it's high time I got creative again ...

How did you celebrate the holidays?

Hugs from Oregon!

Some new works

Hi, Everyone-

I put up three new pictures I did while I was sitting with my mom at the hospital. They're sideways, but you get the idea. Anyway, my mom passed away, so I haven't done much recently. I hope to get back to it soon.

Peace~

Update on my Mama Drama

Well, Mom was home for 2 days and then had to be hospitalized again. She came out of the first hospital with 5 different infections, so we fought to keep her in another one closer to home. That worked for about a month then she needed dialysis so she had to go back to the other hospital. We're now approaching 4 months of this. She just came out of a 12 day spell of unconsciousness. We don't know if she's dying, or getting better. My poor Dad is exhausted. He has only missed 3 days in all this ti… Continue

Checking in....

Hi, Everybody-

I haven't been around because I've had a terrible time lately. I think I mentioned that my uncle passed away in Nov. Just after that, my aunt fell and broke her hip. While she was in the hospital, she fell and broke her rib. I was getting ready to go stay with her in March when she died. On my birthday, no less. We were all reeling from that when my mother had a serious accident.

She got up in the middle of the night, just like my aunt, and she fell into an armoire, head first.… Continue

Turn the page - 2007 is history!

A new year is always a time of hope. 2007 was a big year for me in that I came to a new level of peace about my disability and living conditions. Not that I'm completely happy with the situation, but I can see why I am where I am and don't mind it most of the time.

Now, if I can just get some things done! I have a problem with hoarding things - books, clothes and art supplies mostly- and I have to get some kind of control of my physical environment because the state of it gets in the w… Continue

Answer to Dan's questions re: art supplies

Dan: Can you imagine a point where you have all the supplies you need? What does that look like?

It looks amazing. I have all the perfect storage set up and have pretty much one of everything from the catalogs I use, with plenty of boards, paper, etc. and full ranges (within the colors that I use) of colors. Everything is neat and in order, unlike my areas now. It feels amazing to know I can do as much as I want and still have plenty of stuff left for later.
