Word for the day: Return!

Latest Activity

The "icing" was pretty challenging to sculpt. I probably spent over an hour on that alone :) But now that I know what it takes to make it look that way, I bet the next ones will frost faster!!

Very cute. 2 Cats and a Cupcake. Sounds like a title for a children's story book. Reminds me of a favorite children's story I used to read to my children- When You Give a Mouse a Cookie......

I had to chuckle a little just now, after writing that I haven't been creative at home....DJ knows about the costume I made for my 17 year old....and um...I think this just might qualify for creating at home :) I'll share....

Hi Jean!

Here are pics of a tile I carved in 1990 that I hung on to. I loved the process of carving into green ware. I'm so glad you are here at CCS, sharing your ceramics and reminding me of the satisfying creativity of those days! The feathers at top left are add ons. I loved the way the gold came out on the fur :)

Thanks for the welcome! I think you guys will inspire me. It's too easy to let the daily grind get in the way and not make time for my creative ideas. Last summer I got into making fake rocks, and they sort of looked like people, so I arranged them in a circle and took pics. Unfortunately, they melted in the rain, but I'll find some pics and post them.

Hi Jean,
Thanks for your comment. I live in the south suburbs of Chicago, I don't know Carrie but I hope to. I used to live in Madison Wisconsin and my dad was a cheesehead so I have lots of Wisconsin roots. Looking forward to this great group.

Hi Jean, thank you for your comments.. yes, it was a very challenging year. From the injury in January, to mom's surgery.. I don't think there was a month that didn't go by that didn't have something happen that wasn't great... that being said, 2009 seems to be starting pretty well.. (whispered with fingers xed.) lol.. I look forward to our journey thought VOG together.

Thanks for your reply, Jean. There actually is a place not too far from our house that teaches classes just like this. I just need to decide that I'm worthy of the expense, time, etc. Isn't that awful? At my age, you'd think I had some sense of worth...ah, well. I'm still growing, I guess!

Thanks for your encouraging words. XO

Jean, these clay pieces look great. I love the tiles. I've made a few and collect them (brought some back from Peru)... can't wait to see how you glaze them. Love the idea of imprinting inspiring messages on the cups too.
Looking forward to wathcing your creations :-)
I love clay!

Good Morning, Jean! Oooh, a Prayer Bowl - I love that idea! It sounds beautiful. Maybe you can post a picture of it sometime.

Too bad working with clay isn't easier to "just pick up" and try. I'd love to have a little kiln, and a little wheel -- although I've never even sat at a potter's wheel! I love the feel of the clay in my hands, and love working it and watching it change.

Be well and have a happy day!
