I can so relate to the playing of music. I too played piano and recorded it in a tape recorder. Then I played the piano again with my tape recorder. I grew up in a turbulent household and music saved my life. It gave me a great connection to a spiritual plane that I have been so thankful for since. We are vehicles for expressing the soul of the universe, your writing is beautiful. I am a painter, writer, pianist, collage artist, etc. so hope to connect with you. There is great writers group and poets group here you'll like. Also, I am in Vein of Gold group and it has helped me to process some of my emotions.
Welcome.

Wow, thanks for the explanation of what you felt about the music after listening to it and pondering ... that's really deep stuff. Kewl about being able to leave a copy of it at the memorial, I can only imagine how that would feel.

My mom played piano and organ, a lot when she was young, then nothing for years. In her older years she picked it up again and enjoyed it so much. I never took lessons but fooled around and learned a few things like "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" as a young girl, and can remember how fulfilling it was. When I was a teen, there was a rock organist named Lee Michaels that I adored, and I sometimes imagined myself to be him, playing improv on my mom's big organ ... fun!

Thanks, Diana, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos ... I have had some classes, mostly just dabble on my own. I watched Barack Obama's speech at the home where I was doing house cleaning this morning, and recalled that the last time I had watched TV while working was the Tuesday of 9/11/01. I don't have TV at home at the moment so I missed the rest of the inauguration festivities. I hope you'll record your music often, and share it here :)

Hey Diana...I agree that creations should be shared- it helps to give them life and meaning.
This is the first year I have made Christmas cards. I was reluctant in the past because my inner critic was ruling my inner kingdom which made my art seem inadaquate.

Finding CCS has helped me fire the inner critic and elect the muse to rule.

Why don't you consider joining the doodle group? I will summerize my progression of doodles (so you won't have to scroll through) by saying before I started that I had myself convinced I could not doodle. The mere act of doing them opened many avenues for me.
This is longer than I intended, but I am listening to your song again and taking up time until it is over!

Hi Diana...what a beautiful creative moment! I am listening now as I am typing here and it is awesome. I will be back to listen again. It evokes some things in me that I will be exploring soon.
Welcome to CCS!

If you're interested, please feel free to join the group Julia Cameron Readers Group. It just got going a couple of weeks ago, and is for those who are interested in reading Julia Cameron's books. She's very good at coaxing people into "getting out of our own way" :)

I'm listening to Purposeful Peace, now ... is this the one you spoke of in your profile? It sounds like an orchestra, like a film soundtrack :)

Greatest Creative Moment You've Had?
About 6 months after 911 I sat down to play my keyboard. I am not a trained keyboard player but I have a good ear and ability to create melodically naturally. I had been feeling numb for a good period after the tragedy and it was at this point that I found my my muse again. I just happened to decide to record myself playing this time, I usually do that every now and then. I played for about 10 minutes and with my eyes closed for most of the time. I just let the images flow thru my mind and into my hands and followed where my fingers took me. After I finished I felt so tired but emotionally lighter. I listened to what I had recorded myself playing a couple of hours later before going to be and was amazed at how beautiful it was and even more amazed that I created the music. That was when I truly realized how we are all vehicles for expressing the soul of the universe by letting ouselves be vulnerable and open to being creative by getting out of our own way sometimes.
What's Your Biggest Creative Dream?
To contribute a work of music to the world that will be loved and enjoyed long after I am gone from this life.
