Changed Headline on My Page

When you live in Minnesota, there is a rule of fashion that one does not dare to violate for fear of being ostracized by "them". That rule is White Shoes Can Only Be Worn After Memorial Day - the same goes for white pants, too. While I lived in Naples, FL, white was worn every day of the year by everyone, including me. So, upon my return to MN 2 years ago, I had a difficult decision to make. Do I defy the fashionistas in my new state of residency or do I graciously give in and follow the crowd.… Continue

6 months and 12 Friends later

That are the stats on my CCS experience. How fast I have grown in this new way to communicate! Time passing is inevitable but it is what one does with the time that's important. A cliche subject for sure. But being part of a small circle of friends is the most unexpected aspect of this CCS. Somewhere someone has written something about the phenomenom of online relationships and I understand the attraction of Match.com when one may be looking for a "soulmate." But it is this bond between (mostly)… Continue

First of Many

So many of you have blog posts and I really don't know what they are but since I like to write and type, I will send this little blurb out to see who reads it and responds to me. At the moment, I am not following any discussion threads or have any opinions on earth-shaking matters. I just get up every day, go exercise for an hour, come home and start working on my client files, trying to earn enough to afford to buy all the embellishments needed to make whiz-bang ATCs and cards for friends and w… Continue

Hi Boneita,

You could certainly go ahead and create a new group for the swaps, nothing to lose :) Just go to the Groups tab at the top of the pages here, and there's a link to create a group. If you add the example photos in when you create the group by using the camera icon, they will be visible at the top of every page. (Adding them as attachments gives a link to click on to see the image, no image will show automatically) If I recall correctly, there is also a place to upload a photo that will serve as the group's icon, when you create the group.

Then create a discussion, within that group for the upcoming swap ... more discussions can be added later on.

One thing DJ did for the Summer ATC swap that I thought was cool, was to post the list of participants names on the discussion's main page with numbers, leaving a couple more numbers at the end with question marks, to encourage more members to add their names to the list :) The creator of the discussion can go back in and edit, so you can add the names as people sign up.
Just holler if I can be of more help :)

Glad to be your friend now. Do you like to paint in watercolor or some medium as well or is writing your main passion? Seems photography is a love of yours too? I've been writing about my art process and what it means to me for some time as a form of journaling but now feel ready to branch out into other subject matters with my writing. Looking forward to our journey together, no matter how we create!

What about recipes for Independence Day ... lots of family get togethers and EATING on that holiday, and that would give a little more time to get the word out about the swap, and get organized. Right now, I'm scrambling to keep up with the Vein of Gold group ... wow, over 40 members, I'll never be able to keep up, but I'm so happy there is a lot of interest in it :)

Hi Boneita!
Thanks for your message, sorry I have not replied sooner. I saw your new photos, looks like you had quite a change of environment, moving to Florida. Did you move recently? I am ashamed to say I have not visited my neighbouring countries Sweden and Norway except for a few days in childhood. The nature looks lovely, much more dramatic than Denmark which is a very flat country without mountains, rivers or waterfalls. I would love to travel there someday. Your last name Edlund sounds Swedish. Do you have Scandinavian ancestors by any chance?
What are you working on creatively these days? I tend to always return to paper as well, drawing, it is my comfort zone. It would probably be healthy to try and break out of it!

Hi there, Boneita ...
I was just visiting Mary's page and came across your idea for the embellished recipe card swap and think it's FABULOUS! I want to start right now! LOL! My thoughts are to start a new discussion in the Cook's Corner group ... then spread the word by posting links to that discussion in other groups like the Collage group, Painters Pallette, Doodling ... wherever ... as well as posting a blog here on your page ... looking forward to doing this ... an awesome idea, and it hasn't been done here!

Boneita, it doesn't matter! Cypresses are beautiful too! Trees are such great friends!

Yes! It is one of my favorite fantasies...a cabin in the woods!!!

Thank you for sharing your sweet tree story! Love Camille

Hi Boneita,
I really enjoyed viewing your photos. The one of the boots was great. It looks as though you might be an outside kind of person like me... just guessing from your photos. I love being outdoors. I find it so healing. I look forward to seeing more of your work. I hope your holidays were filled with many blessings. Take care.

Hi Boneita,

Thanks for your warm and exciting message! I tried to get the Cooking group "going again" but folks were obviously interested in other things at the time...or, it could be that I just didn't "put it out there" properly (I realize now there's a way to inform folks of a new group activity).

Your idea sounds great; the only thing I can see than might be a hindrance is the frequency. I'd suggest something "seasonal" either by major holidays, or even by season. These are really busy people, and if you ask me, communicating here and having fun is really their main need. When we do swaps -- ATCs, inchies, bracelets, etc. -- they are very successful but the timing is pretty important.

Your idea is a wonderful one, and I would encourage you to go for it! Valentine's Day would be a super reason to do a recipe swap, and now would certainly be the time to get it going. If I can help you in any way, please let me know! You can count on my participation, whatever and however you choose to proceed. The fact that you are "newer" and willing to host an event like this will also excite folks.

You've come to a great place, and CCS will provide many hours of encouragement - and infrequent discouragement - to your life! Hang in there and go where you're led. Even if only a few people are willing, it to me isn't about "numbers" but about having fun and feeling an accomplishment of creativity and newness.

Keep me posted! And...GOOD FOR YOU!!

Be well -- Mary XO
