Thanks Anne, that's very perceptive. It's true that in writing this it was like bathing in the warm chocolate of language, spooning it over myself and everything in sight, letting it make the most delectable shapes... I wrote as much for the sound of sequences of words as their actual meaning, and around this period wrote some poems wholly phonetically, without a single recognisable English word in them.

Reading these I'm struck by your love of the English language. Or should I say your large vocabulary at work in these poems. Sometimes I think I just use my own little vocab and don't meander off into the big wide world of the English language. Thanks for making me think, Dan! I'm really impressed. Good poems too, by the way.
