Yes Camille, the intro is bleak and questioning, then the poetry (hopefully) helps give hope as it evolves.

Thank you for reading, and understanding...

Thanks Bev, I'm really encouraged by your comments : )

The intro words were meant to be haunting and bleak, then the 12 poems in the book go through a story of love and hope, and by the end, you might still have the same existential questions about hollow ghost shells and rattling echoes, but at least you'll have had moments of great tenderness, connection, affection and hope...

Yes, like my baby is very apt and how it feels. Though I've written hundreds of poems, to gather some specifically together and print into a collection that I could hold in my hands was very special, and something I'd forgotten I'd even done until a recent conversation with Lin about self publishing.

Thought-provoking words that really touched my soul, Dan...feelings and thoughts I personally struggle to reframe into a positive light. Then again, the soul needs to express the depths of despair. Through feeling and exploring these dark, empty places, it becomes possible to ascend once again into the light of a knowing presence!

Hi Dan,
How wonderful this book of poetry. Are all the poems love poems? They are so dreamy and romantic. Yet, for me the title of the book intrigues me, how did you come up with that? And I also love your introduction, it seems haunting and dark in marked contrast to the poetry itself (which seems a bit lighter with hope
and possibilities. The intro draws me in to want to read more! My heart was pounding.

"Are we not all but hollow ghost shells?
And what of the distant rattling echoes as we walk -
the slow shrouded terror of a descending future or the
irreversible aged decay of a more mythical past?"

I could just see images coming into my mind as I read these 4 lines. All my senses
were activated. How great you self-published. It's like creating photos and printing them yourself.
It's your baby, in your protective hands from start to finish!!!! Great job. Thank you for sharing.

I was heavily influenced by Jack Kerouac and Thomas Wolfe around this time, and still they are two of the biggest literary heroes of mine. My inside inscription a kind of homage to Wolfe's inside "Look Homeward, Angel".
