I'm Carol, and it's been awhile since I've popped into CCS. I was here with Anne at the beginning when she started the Writer's Clique. Feels good to be back.
I thought it might be neat to get some creativity flowing in here again. So I'm going to post a list of prompts from which you can choose one as the jumping-off point for a short story, piece of flash fiction (1000 words or less), even a poem. Anything goes. Just pick a prompt, get those fingers typing, and see where your imagination takes you. Remember.... have fun. :-)
1. After being dumped a week before her would-have-been lavish wedding, a woman decides to go on her honeymoon anyway, traveling alone to a swanky, tropical resort.
2. After 45 years of living in a convent, a nun decides to abandon the sisterhood.
3. An old man returns to the tree in which he carved the initials of his long lost childhood sweetheart.
Thanks, Carol! Excellent prompts! Where did you get them? (always nice to know the source)
Glad you like them, Anne. They come from The Writer's Book of Matches: 1001 Prompts to Ignite Your Fiction.
Anyway we can get a message out, that's there some new info here? Hopefully some folks will drop in and see the prompts.
Notified the group, Carol!
I am glad you started this Carol; I would have started something last week as I promised in my thread, "What are your favorites?"; but I got really sick with a serious sinus infection. I was ready to post a writing prompt tonight when I found that you beat me to the punch. KUDOS!
Carol, I'm happy to see you back on CCS. : ) Thanks for starting this thread.
these prompts are fabulous! I'm just tooooo busy to devote the time they deserve, hope to get my internet at the new house soon so I can at least read the entries ;-}
I've never really tried flash fiction, as in prose, but some of those prompts are tempting me to have a go.....I'd like to write something that ISN'T poetry, but who knows....
Feeling a bit ill at present.....a young friend down the road has just been diagnosed with glandular fever....I have the same symptoms...hoping it isn't that! Her 2 year old son has just been diagnosed with high risk diabetes....life seems so unfair at times, so she and her mum are really going to have their hands full.....poor little Alex could do with a few prayers -:)
Must get going, due out at the Cabaret club shortly to give some gardening advice on the mini golf side of the business.....cheers and thanks for starting this Carol....should be fun :-)
