I was going to go through the drawer where I have been throwing paid bill receipts for the past three years and clear it out so I could start over, since it's getting pretty hard to stuff things in there, any more. Instead, I picked up a file box from the bottom of the closet, after clearing away the bags of clothes and stuffed animals and shoes I intended to take to the thrift store. Inside I found a lot of interesting and important to me things I had pretty much forgotten about.

There were three homework assignments I had saved from my sophomore English class, from December, 1968 and January, 1969. One was a handwritten account of my typical Saturday night. So long forgotten, it was like reading it for the first time. The other was a handwritten account of catching a thief, appropriately titled, "To Catch A Thief", which I did remember writing.

This is a book report that I don't remember writing at all. And having hated typing in high school, I'm surprised to see it typed on my little Smith Corona portable that my grandparents had given me for graduation from 8th grade. Must have taken me a long time to type, because I got a D in typing :)

Have you ever run across any writing from long ago that you'd forgotten all about?

Barb, this is so well written. Whoever gave teachers red pens should take them away! Even positive remarks look scary in red ink! You did a great job with this. Did you ever see the movie?

Thanks Anne. No, I haven't seen the movie. One for my video store list!
I don't mind the red pen. I think my punctuation has improved since then :) (should there have been a comma there?)
LOL!

Isn't it great when you find something like this that tells you you really had a gift? Great job, Barb. Agree with Anne about the red pen- OK for adults maybe but terrifying for kids.

Thanks, Lin & Debb. It just blows my mind when I find things I can't even remember doing. I've been so very successful at hiding them away. Maybe I should take up belly dance and call myself the Queen of Denial :)
