OK, in the spirit of responding to the prompts I put up, even a year later! here is a poem inspired by this picture.


A Flower



Like a crocus bursting through the snow
your face emerges from it’s wrappings
scarf and hat, furry hood from your parka.

Like Spring itself, your smile.

Still with the ruddiness of Winter on your cheeks
bite of Nature’s cold
but there’s no poison, the season isn’t deadly.

When I hear your laugh,
Winter releases it’s grip on my heart
and I start to

thaw.
