Thirty Days Of Creating - October 2009

September's Thirty Days of Creating project saw a flood of creativity from CCS members, with the total number of page views in the group here topping 9000!

So, we're continuing the fabulous Thirty Days Of Creating project throughout October...

What's it all about? Read on to find out...

How Do I Participate?:

1. Every day, you simply create in your form: art, writing, acting, dance, music, composing, etc.
2. It can be a simple baby step! (some idea sketches, one sentence written, one maquette of a sculpture, two measures of music composed, another eight beat of choreography... anything!)
3. You set your own work schedule or time on task...five to fifteen minutes, one hour, etc.
4. Do this for thirty days. ( At the end of thirty days, a habit or routine will have been formed. ) If you miss a day, or join us late, no big deal. Just start where you are.

~~~If you need inspiration...
There are some prompts listed here:
Possible Prompts
Pick one or none! Your choice, no order.
Interpret them for you. They may lead you to something else. Or, just get you thinking!
Whatever they mean to you…
NOTE: YOU DON’T HAVE TO USE THESE.
So head over to this discussion to let us know you're in!
The NEXT Thirty Days of Creating - October 2009
Once you're in, start your own discussion to post your creative exploits:
The best way we've found in the past to share our work is to each start a new discussion in this group.
So if you scroll down past the discussions listed below, you'll see the + start discussion link.
Click that and call your discussion something like "Dan's thirty days of creating" in the Title box.
Add a few words of description in the main box, eg "This is where I'll share my thirty days of creating", and click the Add Discussion button at the bottom right.
Visit your discussion each day and leave a reply to let us know what you've been creating...
Welcome and thanks for being a part of it!
Cai, what sort of mural does the design have to depict? I couldn't find a pic or anything from your CCS post in my email...
Oh Kat! It's gorgeous! A few years back I went to an Arts and Sabbath retreat at the Montreat Conference Center (not too far from Asheville). I fell in love with the area after that visit. All blessings to you on your upcoming move!! :)
Thank you all for the support! I am soooooo looking forward to having time to do fun stuff. The house I am buying is on top of a hill with 360 degree mountain views to die for! I tried to add a picture to this but it isn't working. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Anyway, for anyone who has wanted to visit Asheville, my door will be open to you...once I get there that is. LOL
How exciting for you, Kat! I can't wait to hear all about your new studio space in Ashville! That town is high on my wish list of places to visit!!
Kat: Good luck with your retirement journey. I just went through that last June. The freedom of having time to play with art is so what it is about!
Julia I've never seen ya lookin' more content :) What fun!
Way to go Boneita on trying a new medium ... Joannes and Michael's half price sales are great for getting me to try new things, too! You can start a discussion here in the Thirty Days of Creating group ... (click Start Discussion - just above this comment thread, next to the green plus sign) ... title it yourself, and post your progress and images there :)
... there's also a group here at CCS for explorations into new mediums, forget what it's called at the moment. Clicking on the GROUPS tab at the top of the page will bring up three pages of CCS Groups to explore :)
December was pretty much a wash-out for me too. I have the feeling that the next couple of months will be difficult ones for creativity as I am in the process of following my dream. I will be retiring in 2009, and am in the "financial figuring stage" of buying a new house, selling my current house, packing and getting moved to Asheville, NC with my 3 little kitties! What a job!!! Once moved though I will have a whole room just for my studio! I can't wait!!
Boneita: What fun! I too have been thinking of getting into the beeswax. I tried one project a couple of years ago then haven't tried again. I think you should just dive in and play to see what you can do. Make some ATCs! Let me know what you come up with as far as techniques...
Boneita Edlund Comment by Boneita Edlund on December 28, 2008 at 5:31pm
I have been true to my commitment for creating 30 days of art, granted one may have been cutting snow flakes out of virtual paper, but it was still art and it was fun. Yesterday, I bought a gizmo (Melting Pot) with my 50% off Michael's coupon and am going to start making beautiful beeswax collages. Never have done it but the pictures and descriptions of projects I've seen make me want to learn. So, my own goal for creating art in 2009 is this new technique, along with my old favorites of ATCs, scrapbooking, and watercolor painting. If anyone can send me tips or suggest names of books for a reference, I would really appreciate it.
