I'm ready to keep on, keepin' on....creatively! This is where I'll put my October-30 experience :)

I hope to just continue forward - to continue creating with consistency. I also hope to finish a coupla more pieces but...no pressure...right?

Among other things, this time I'm hoping to do a little more supporting of others. I'm naturally pretty self-centered - not a judgment, just a description. I get very wrapped up in my own l'il world. I'm a very strong introvert and get obsessed with my projects, no matter how small. Hopefully I can expand that a bit and practice giving more to others.

Lastly...I hope to pay a l'il more attention to my new blog, which I've kind of abandoned. Not sure that I want to share everything that I share here...but really...SOMETHING would be good, lol!

Wendy, Looking forward to joining you for October and being inspired by you to create everyday. Hopefully I will figure out what to do with my hinge by the end of October.

Day One: I'm working on finishing my Vampyre altered book. I told the gallery director that I'd send her a picture of it this weekend, so....I need to get it done. My mind is pretty much on nothing else at the moment. The usual nerves...is it dumb....will anyone be able to grasp the concept I'm attempting to express? I'm moving forward anyway - and - it really is almost finished.

Wendy, Remember that many people see their own ideas when they view art. Many don't see what the artist is enjoying so enjoy it for yourself regardless of your audience. They will do what they want with it.

You bring up an excellent point, Susan, thank you :) Much of my artistic "worries" are around this same issue. Will I make a point that flow or that people don't "get"? But, you are right, people do get their own ideas from it, too. I need to start letting go a bit...I'm gonna practice that!

Wendy, Well done. DO your art because it pleases you unless it is a commission. Enjoy your art and don't worry about being understood unless someone asks.

This reminds me I used to deliberately write obscurely because a part of me didn't WANT to be understood, I want to be a kind of enigmatic artist. Though my writing tends to me far more accessible these days, I still like to write in an original way that makes people think and visualise things differently... Makes it more memorable I think.

Yeah, I think it may be more inviting, too, sometimes when every message isn't obvious...if the artist provides visual or verbal cues and allows the viewer to fill in as he/she will.

I think I try to do this with visual symbols. I'll show something that I think relates or expresses and idea....then I fear that nobody else will get it. But, this conversation has shown me alternative ways to think about that. Cool.

It's like films. My favourite film maker is David Lynch. His films are beautiful and disturbing, dreamy and starkly real, all at the same time. He puts so many layers in them for the viewer to unravel and interpret.

I wrote a short thesis on my interpretation of Mulholland Dr, my favourite film of his, but still I watch it and don't have it all figured out, which I love. Make it more like a music album which you can return to again and again and find new meaning, whereas most (Hollywood) films you see once then there's no point in watching again, they're very disposable and shallow in that sense.
