Oct. 1 - While I'm waiting for an important phone call, I'm starting to crochet a scarf to be donated to Worcester Common Fellowship, who will distribute it and others to homeless people who gather weekly for worship and lunch on the Common in downtown Worcester.

Oct. 2 -- I had a very interesting discussion with my husband over lunch at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I went to Starbuck's and took The Challenge (they lost; I won!). I did my three pages of "morning pages" while I waited for Jonathan to get out of school. I cried when Jonathan told me about his day. I nearly screamed with delight when I got the call offering me the part-time job! I continued work on my crocheted scarf for the Worcester Fellowship project. I enjoyed dinner at New England Roast Beef with Warren and Jonathan. I cried with my friend, Elizabeth. I loved having Jonathan sit on my lap and say, "Love you!" before he went to bed. I reveled in the quietness of a late evening.

That's all I did today....oh, and I made a SoulCollage card using 16 high-heeled boots I spent 30 minutes cutting out just for that purpose yesterday. Will post it soon, promise.

More tomorrow! I have an "Artist Date" so it will be yummy.

Amazing, I thought you'd posted your whole thirty days of creating in one go! Keep it flowing Mary... : )

Hi Mary! Oh good, you are here ... I will follow along with your October journey. I need to create a discussion for me too. By the way, did you get certified to be a SoulCollage facilitator? I remember that was in the works for you.

Today I went on an Artist's Date of sorts, with my friend Claire. Our mission was to check out some consignment shops we'd never visited before. We were hungry, however, so our first stop was at the diner next door to the brand new fire station...built on the lot where several firemen were killed in a horrible tragedy about ten years ago. Anyway, I had the best cheese omelet I've ever had, but Claire's ham & cheese omelet looked much better. So, next time, I'll order ham & cheese!

We trundled off on our mission. At our first stop, I ended up spending a total of $27 and got seven new tops ranging from blouses to "heavy" sweaters. Two of the sweaters were only $1 each! I am thrilled. We went to two other thrift stores after this one. Here's what I saw walking up the street, and I knew that my "Day 3" creative endeavor had been fulfilled (if you know Dan Goodwin, you'll get this!): http://coachcreativespace.ning.com/photo/this-is-for-dan-the-man?co...

Later this afternoon, I took my friend Elizabeth out to Starbuck's and we had a wonderful chat. Warren fixed an incredible meal of steak, roasted potatoes and salad. This afternoon he made a batch of hummus, using a bit of our home-grown jalapenos. It is so good.

I'm off now to enjoy this quiet time of day that I love so much...thinking about what to do in my new Art Journal. I'm loving that outlet of expression, and thinking, thinking, thinking of ways to combine it with SoulCollage...it's a 31 day month, so maybe I'll figure it all out.

Tomorrow is Sunday -- Church Day! Blessing of the animals (hope it doesn't rain) on top of Worcester Fellowship. I'm still working on my scarf for the homeless, which I need to finish by next week. It's a beautiful shade of blue, and I promise a picture when it's finished.

Happy Saturday! Happy Sunday, too, in case I don't get back here tomorrow.

Mary I love that you're journalling your travels of the day and include your creativity within that.

I left a comment on your salsa storm photo, that's a great name for a club! When are you signing up? : )

Keep creating and keep us posted...

Dan

Sunday, October 4th

I think my creative act today was to not be creative! Lots of thought went into DOING something, but something said, "NO! Take the day off!"

I watched the after-effects of a rear end collision in front of our house this afternoon (thankfully nobody was injured). Warren blessed animals this afternoon -- 14 of them, and a good mix from guinea pigs to service dogs. Happy Feast Day, St. Francis! I shopped for a new purse (found one - red and gorgeous!). I made what I thought was meatless lasagna, until Warren asked me where I got Ricotta cheese for it -- hadn't given Ricotta cheese a thought! So, I called it "Noodle Pie" and it was delicious! We watched the Denver Broncos (rah! rah!) beat the Dallas Cowboys. I sat on the porch on this lovely, warm/cool evening and watched the world pass by. Funny, how this time of year so many people have one headlight burnt out but don't seem to know it. Better check my own!

I didn't crochet on the scarf. I didn't work on my Art Journal. I just sort of basked in this sparkling, beautiful day here in New England. Heck, I didn't even read the Sunday Funny Pages.

But I thought long and hard about all of these things I didn't do.

Does this count?

The themes across different people's threads are fascinating. In Franchi's thread we've been talking about a similar thing: creating space (physically, mentally, emotionally) is sometimes the most creative and beneficial thing we can do, rather than making new art all the time.

This is a great way to share your 30 days! Keep it up!
