I need some time designated for art amidst the many responsibilities crowding my life right now.
Since I'm online responding to others, I might as well post my creative stuff, too!
Whee.
11-1~ photographed a few oil paintings for my blog
~ tried to put the need to create into words
11-2 ~wrote & posted poem below
11-3 ~ began new oil painting entitled "Electricity"
11-4 ~ began private art consultation sessions with a promising new student !
11-5 ~ altered the oil painting "Electricity"
11-6 ~ after a creative day at school, took Friday night off to eat steak w. hubby
11-7 ~ opened a NEW JOURNAL and drew FIVE spreads in ink for future watercoloring while listening to the Eagles .... whee.
11-8 ~ began painting one of the drawings in my new journal using watercolor

Well, I have to try to keep up with my lovely friend in New England somehow... :-)
Have you gotten around to painting that desk, yet?
If not, no biggie, just thinking of you.
(Red...luscious red...would be wonderful, no?)

Until Next Time
by DJ

Smoldering
Always there
Burning
Searing
Boiling
Deep within
Intense, hidden
Façade in place
Smile at them
Still waters
Depth of feeling
Danger lurks
Torn
Passion is defined as suffering
Think about something else
See something else
They don’t see
How long
Wait more
Why deny it
Leave everything
Walk run go
Do it
Release is joy
Unbridled play
Fingers exploring
Touch it again
And again
There
Paint on my hands
Exquisite
Exhale
What will they think
I don't care
Beauty in my eye
Satisfaction on canvas
Joy in my heart

Until next time, my love

I like how the passion is simmering under the surface all the way through in this DJ, for what we would assume is another person, then "paint on my hands" reveals it all, an artist's love affair with her paint, her brushes, her canvas.

Lovely ending too - "Until next time, my love"...

Thanks, Dan. I usually paint with a brush or palette knife, but at some point, I zone out into the painting only to come back to earth with paint on my hands where I've abandoned other tools to use my fingers. Whenever I use plastic gloves, I end up with holes in the finger tips and paint on my hands, anyway. So, I just enjoy the feel of paint on my fingers and worry about washing-up later.
The other day, one of my students looked at her paint-smeared hands and called to me from her easel, "Mrs. ______, I couldn't get the effect I wanted with my brush, so I've just gone to fingers."
I just smiled and said, "I understand. I totally understand..."

Brilliant! Love the "Exhale" - I can hear it, feel it, sense it...then all is revealed.

Love it.

Thank you, Mary. It would take someone who has been there to understand.
My friend, here's to living passionately...
May the embers burn brightly for you this winter.
