I've been writing a poem every day for the last 10 days or so. I will continue with this creative activity. I'll post my poems here and on Poetbay which is down until Tuesday anyway.

September 1st. Here is my first poem for the 30 Day challenge. For some reason I felt driven tonight to write about haircolor. So I got the box out and this is what emerged from that rather unserious contemplation:

Time for a Change

I’m beginning
to feel drab,
lifeless.
Washed out, even.
But I have a solution!
Tomorrow I will endure
the goopiness
of coloring my hair.
Dripping down my neck,
reddish glop.
#76
Rubio Caoba
Rich Auburn Blonde
Otherwise known
as Hot Tamale.
It will put pep in my step
and ants in my pants.
Caliente! Hot stuff!

Here's a rather dark love poem, I guess you'd call it.

Imprisoned

I find you in dreams
if I find you at all.

Daylight doesn’t suit you,
but night reveals.

I feel a hand on my shoulder
you breathing beside me.
But if I turn to look
you disappear.

Only in my heart
that walled chamber
have you been captured,
chained, detained.
Love’s captive, forever
more.

But, like
the high executioner
who has hanged many
finds the noose around
his throat.
So the jailor too,
finds herself locked inside,
unable to leave.

Escape impossible.
