For rough drawings that are not as casual as doodles, for preliminary studies, usually in a dry medium (charcoal, graphite, pen, etc.).

I know that many artists, myself included, keep a sketchbook on them nearly at all times and so I thought I would come and share some of my own work once a week and encourage others to do the same. Please feel free to make your own discussion and share from your own sketchbook here.
If you'd like a definition of what "sketching" means, exactly:
1: a rough drawing representing the chief features of an object or scene and often made as a preliminary study
I plan to post my sketches here and my doodles in Doodling. 'Cause I got lots of both.

Don't fix it if it ain't broken. I find abstract work very intriguing and deep and meaningful and perplexing. Those are good things. My work is slowly going abstract. I keep leaving pieces of real in the abstract work just to keep one foot on the ground, but who knows someday I might take the plunge and become pure abstract. Speaking of a feast for the eyes, I see lots of eyes and various other creatures in this drawing.(and doodles). Do you have anything in mind when you do an abstract or do you just go with the flow?

Glad I found this group-I think I might go play with some charcoal-way to go ben, you and Fi are so encouraging and enthusiastic-so good to find!
This is an oldie-the problem is all of my sketches are SO abstract-I really should do something representational, but it just isn't my forte!
