Zingara's beautiful description on the main page of this Renewal group has got me thinking... She wrote:

I enjoy early mornings with my first cup of coffee before the world awakens. Ever so slowly it yawns and stretches with bird song. A soft breeze answers as it flutters through the trees. Autumn leaves twirl and dance returning to Earth Mother. Each new morning offers something never seen or felt before.

i write what I call "wake up pages" before beginning a new day. Fresh from dreaming to the page I journey with my pen no matter what my feelings might be. The air is then clear enough for mE to find my way through another day.

These are just a few of the kindnesses I do for myself since I am important to mE.......

Weekdays - Feed the dogs, make my first cup of coffee, then check my favorite writing sites before heading to work.
Weekends are all about lingers under the comforters for and thinking about possible ideas for the books. Then moving to the living room and watching to see if the hummingbird comes to visit the front garden.

Marie,

"Weekends are all about lingers under the comforters" - what a lovely phrase! Know just what you mean...

Welcome to CCS by the way, good to have you here.

It's not so much refreshed as knowing the basics have been done- Smokey out to pee, then his breakfast then back out to potty, my pot of coffee brewing and finally sitting down with a cup of fresh coffee to check email. Creating comes later, once my brain engages!

I also head straight to my creativity area first thing in the morning, after making coffee and feeding my dogs. I always intend to write in my morning pages journal, a ritual I started on January 1st, 2007. Sometimes, though, if I am in the midst of creating something, I pick up a color pencil or pen instead, and continue my work. I have picture windows across from my "high chair" and desk, and on mornings like this morning, when the moon was full and making its journey toward setting behind the mountains, I go outside and try to capture some of that beauty before it's gone.

When I feel I'm at a stopping point with my writing or art, I get online and read my daily Notes From The Universe, horoscopes, numerology, and I Ching. Then I check out what's new at Mandala Oasis and usually find something beautiful and thought provoking and inspiring. I check email from friends, then head on over to CCS to see what's going on here. Sometimes my best friend calls and we chat about the day before and our plans for the day or the week or whatever. By then it's time for me to get dressed, get my lunch and my book and head on out the door for work, and I'm ready for it because I've done all the things that are dear to me :)

When it is one of my good days I do morning writing with a cup of coffee, then some dance to music, then a little gardening, then some art work and then a morning meditation with candles. i then have breakfast and jump on the computer to visit my CCS and other friends. I wish I had more good days.

Writing, dancing, gardening, art work and meditation! All before breakfast! That's fantastic Susan, how creative you are...

I wish we both had more good days, Susan. Today was a good day for me. :)

I don't have a morning ritual, unless it's eat cheerios and feed the cats, then check my email. Good idea though!

I have to do the other things first, because once I get online, one thing leads to another and I don't get anything else done!

These last few months I've found myself awake most mornings between 6 and 7 a.m. so I stumble down our very steep stairs, pee, feed the mew, put the kettle on, put away last night's washing up whilst I wait for the tea to brew and then its straight upstairs to my studio with my mug. If I'm working on a painting its the perfect moment to just sit on my favourite chair and contemplate where I am up to with it. I usually manage to get over any mini blocks that might be forming whilst I'm in this morning dream-trance state and decide what small thing I could start with to get going again. Sometimes as I work I get inspired to share something I've felt or thought and at an appropriate stopping point I zoom over to my computer corner and do a blog post or start a thread here on CCS...I can often get two to three hours painting done before I feel the need for breakfast and its definitely the best time of the day for me to paint.

Cherry, interesting to hear about your "morning dream-trance state"... Doesn't last very long for me, I can literally wake up and be writing an article or email or replying on CCS or any other writing in a matter of moments.

I do enjoy waking from a very vivid dream and hanging on to it by writing the details down as vividly as possible. Trouble is, I'm torn between writing it down to relive it, or trying to not wake up and just slip back into the dream. Hardly ever works!
