It's time for me to get writing more poetry again, so I'm participating in the November Poem-A-Day Challenge. Hope more will join me.... here is the link where you'll find the prompt each day.

http://blog.writersdigest.com/poeticasides/

Just write a rough draft each day, worry about polishing and perfecting later. Then create your own discussion group here and share your work.
Onto the Poetry...!

DAY 3
The prompt was to write a positive, negative or "both" poem. I tried a "both".

Tradeoff

The days are getting shorter
darkness steals the evening light,
but Advent hope approaches.

Some days the sun seems banished
dead leaves fall on hard ground,
but I breathe in crisp cool air.

No more outdoor writing
deck is closed to coffee clutch,
but cafes boast pumpkin mocha.

No more seashore day trips
sand must wait another year,
but bright lights promise a new Coming.

DAY 4
The prompt for this day was to start with the title, Maybe.

Maybe

there’ll be snow for Christmas
more of my wounds will heal
the economy will improve
the homeless will find shelter.

I’ll get those stories published
I’ll finally start my memoir
my friend will find her place
I’ll lose those extra pounds.

the sun will shine through Winter
and I’ll be free and clear at last.

"the sun will shine through Winter
and I'll be free and clear at last."

Love how the the truth comes through in the last two lines, as it often does, the wonderful clear perception, like a brightly lit sliver of ice. I so hope that the sun continues to shine through Winter for you. I hear your "authentic voice" again Carol, makes me think of the garden poem you recently posted. Good for you! Lots of love, angiexx
