DISGUISE

I paint myself happy,
Lighthearted and gay
To those who don't know me
I'm always that way...

I am scared of rejection,
But the world loves a clown,
So I dare not discard
This mask of security,

For without it
I leave myself open to hurt,
So I smile, and pretend
Life’s not getting me down...

I don't know me at all
I just can't understand...
For I think myself carefree,
Not downcast and blue.....

But confusion overrules me,
And I find myself crying,
Drowning in loneliness,
And frightened that life
Is moving too fast,
And leaving me no time
To find who I am.....

Tomorrow’s another day,
Gone like the others
And what have I learned
That will help me to cope

With depression,
Frustration
So forget it and smile,
Pretend I don't care,
For who loves a clown
when she's blue....

DISGUISE...

Nick, I can so relate to your thoughtful poem "Regardless'...oh yes, how this resonates, your phrases and the way you use words to touch the inner emotions...

Thanks so much for sharing, looking forward to getting to know everyone here- I have felt at a loss since our journals were finished LOL

Hi guys in the comments section. If you post your poems in one of the discussions, or start a new discussion of your own, it's easier for us all to reply and follow. : )

There's a danger of them getting overlooked down here as most people head straight for the Discussion Forum section above when visiting a main group page...

Thanks!

Nick and Julia

Thanks for your wonderful poems. Both remind me of Shakespeare, but in different ways. Julia's reminds of his sonnets, Nick's of his tragedies. LOL! Nick, post whatever you want. You might want to start a new discussion above.

SOULMATES
I free myself of everything,
Except the thought of you,
And hold you close inside of me-
The way two lovers do…
The sunlight flickers through the leaves,
Plays shadows on the wall,
Strums softly on my heartstrings
Through the bows that stretch so tall…
I feel at peace within myself-
A bonding of two souls-
And one is you, the other me-
Together we are whole…

I thought it wasn’t possible!
I thought it all a dream-
My soul has taken wing with yours-
I’m not sure what it means…
All my life I’ve longed for you,
Caressed you with my mind-
I always thought that you would be
Impossible to find…
I thought you were a phantom
of that universal core,
But now I know you’re flesh and blood,
And I dare not hope for more…

Just sometimes an illusion
Can become reality-
But just right now the time’s not right
For you and I to be…
I know this, and my heart aches,
But our moment must be pure-
We’ll both know when the time comes,
And till then we must endure…
I hold your hand…I tremble,
I’m not quite sure what I fear,
But the linking of our minds
Is so uncanny when you’re near…

Have we stumbled on each other’s dreams,
Though we would seem awake?
Is life really the illusion,
and the dream the path to take?
The stars, gowned in their brilliance
Will help us to cross the night,
While the mystic glow of moonbeams
Will chase shadows into flight…
And as the dawn is giving birth,
We’ll merge forward to the sun,
And fuse like molten candles
Till our destinies are one…

SOULMATES...
