I will be starting to read Walking in this world after i finish TAW in 3 weeks so if you would like to join me get yourself a copy of the book or just join the discussion with the prompts and questions i will be giving. I find giving myself a question it helps me move through the Julia books. Looking forward to your company.

Maureen, I will be so glad to have your company. i have enjoyed VOG and Mary's book and TAW and I thought I would continue with WITW and then finding water. I'm really enjoying the feedback from friends.

Susan,

I'd like to take the "walk" with you too. I'll get myself a used copy and be ready for the discussion.

WITW..C1...i've just started chapter one of WITW. It talks a lot about baby steps and i do this in my everyday life not just with my creativity. Do you incorporate baby steps into your life?

Hey Susan, yes very important concept, baby steps. What I think is also important is to measure and review from time to time also. If we take baby steps each day, we can progress and grow and achieve so much in a matter of weeks, let alone years. Crucial we recognise this progress and give ourselves the credit we deserve, this then inspires on to further (maybe slightly bigger?) steps...

Dan, It is good to see you here. Thanks for your comment. Detta here at CCS taught me about baby steps and then I read about it with Julias books.

I incorporate baby steps into my life all the time. A lot of times it's not because I want to, but because I've had to. Without getting into it, I deal with a lot of anxiety, and because I'm in deep treatment, I can't do things at the level I've wanted to. If I were completely well, I'd probably be firing on all 8 cylinders around the clock. But wait.

I've realized over time, some of this waiting and frustration is a gift. As I emphasize, some of it. To be able to start over, go slower, take things in small chunks and appreciate the dramatic steps that they are, as Julia says, is a wondrous thing. Working on all 8 cylinders all the time is what makes people kinda crazy in this world, and I know that's not what I want either.

God forces people to slow down sometimes -- and taking baby steps is sometimes the only way out. But it's a beautiful way out...

Carol, this post really helps me. With my health issues, it is the same way with me, where I have to take baby steps.

I like how you said to appreciate the dramatic steps they are! There are so many times I need to remind myself of the things I DID do, rather than the things I didn't. Like getting in the shower, or just getting out of bed in the morning. Those can be monumental tasks for me sometimes, and I need to realize that for me, those were dramatic steps I took.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this!

It is all relative. What seems like normal day to day activities that don't need a second thought for some people, can be a monumental effort for others.

I came across a guy on Twitter called Seth who makes video diaries of his overcoming anxiety. I've been really touched by the ones I've seen. Take a look if you're interested:

Maureen, I am like you where things like a shower or going on my walk are huge achievements for the day and for other people they don't even think about it.
