If you are like me, then I feel sorry for you - but seriously -
if you are creative but go into long dry spells of non-creativity
and are wondering why - perhaps, the answer lies in the fact
that you have lost your VISION
you know that thing that gives you a direction to move in.

I have created this place to discuss creative vision and to be a place where you can
present shifts in your creative vision ( a sort of VISION Testing Place)
Hopefully it is not quite like the DMV - where you get a god-awful picture of yourself.

Here I hope you get a clearer picture of who you are - at least creatively.

And yes, I am using this discussion to test out just what my creative vision is
(besides spontaneous non-connected bursts of creativity).

I hope you enjoy this and play here all you want.

Love and Stuff,
Frank

I was going to ask you about the photo with the oak trees and azaleas. They are found in many southern states, of course, including mine. :-)
The Spanish moss reminds me of my childhood...a different world from where I am now.

DJ, Did you grow up in southern Georgia ?

Reply to This

LOL! No, southern South Carolina...

I thought you were a bit farther north?
You been visiting a spell? :-)

Reply to This

Yes, my sister lives in Atlanta. I used to live in Jupiter, Fla. So I have been through the swamp land a couple of time.

I also spent two winters in the Everglades.

Southern South Carolina is about Central Georgia, right ?
Do you live near Charleston or Savanna ?

Reply to This

Neither, right now. I'm a bit farther northwest, in the upstate.
Thanks for the memories, though, that the photograph evoked. :-)
My vision has certainly changed since I played beneath Spanish moss.
Perhaps I've been trying to reclaim that vision...it's been buried for a long time.

Love & Laughter,
DJ

Hello,

The creative writer in me has disappeared. where? don't know, my mind has gone blank, this sounds strange but my love has gone, i am feeling empty. I have a feeling that its because i need clarity, inspiration, spiritual nourishment of some kind.
I have thought about journalling and day-dreaming about what I want but I feel over-whelmed and confused I am not sure where to begin....even now the pen does not want to write because i feel i have nothing to say.....
i am reaching for my inner child the one that use to love writing fairytales and fables and fly away on adventures....but its blank, dull and bored...my creative energy and enthusiam....zzzzzzzzz...any help/suggestions creative buddies....I know I am not alone in this strange, mysterious abyss

NITA,
You are not alone. I feel that if I do not write everyday I will forget how.
After not writing a couple of days for whatever reason ( and they are always good reasons)
I find myself battling with my mind - and not being able to think of anything
creative. And trying to be creative makes things worse.
So I try little things like writing a 15 word poem or a haiku to warm up.
Another way to warm up is to just type and have no expectation other than fill up the page.
You might be surprised what comes out then.
Try writing an angry letter - that might loosen things up. (blame some higher power for not letting you be creative)

I created this discussion because I was feeling stuck with my writing.
I'll let you know if it works.
Try writing something different like a scary fairy tale with an ogre that stops the poor hero from using her magic pen.

That's all I have write now.

Hope you get back on track - back to your vision of writing,
Frank

My creative ideas are more at certain times than others. Sometimes i am very quiet and reflective and don't do much creating.

Susan, is there any consistent thread in your creativity ?
Do you get inspired by the works of others ?
or do Ideas just come to you ?

For me, the inspiration usually comes from my head
either by my dreams or by an idea that comes to me
when I am trying to work something else out. If I am doing morning pages,
I might get a dozen ideas to work on.

Right now I am intrigued with the idea of finding
positivity in dark or unusual places. That is what inspired me to
make the picture at the top of the page. Ironically, I had to take
a light picture and darken it and take the color out of it
to make my point. I thought I could find a dark picture somewhere
but I was not able to.

Well, thank you for your comment Susan,
Frank from Chicago

Frank,
I get my inspiration from life. I get huge amounts of ideas from CCS and online. I will see something and I will then race off to create. I rarely just get ideas out of thin air it is always connected to the life I am living now. I am doing some creative work inspired by my reading The artist way. i am also doing prompts on line.

Okay, you might be wondering what is the story behind this picture.

Well, today I was playing with Photoshop and I found a picture of a very blue eye of someone
whom I have forgotten or never took down their name. I thought about putting it on a plant
and titling it Plant's Eye.
and that is what I did except the blue eye did not show up as well as I would like so I changed the
color to reddish magenta which does show up better. But then my wife looked at the picture and said
"that does not look like a real eye."
I said "Does it look like an eye on drugs ?" and that made her laugh so I changed the title to
Marajuana eye" but when I googled Marajuana, google told me that I mispelled marijuana and that proved that I was a dope fiend and the FBI would soon be knocking at my door.
So I am stashing the picture here and waiting for the men in black to come.

I figure a picture with an eye in it - has to be part of my vision. But I do not condone the use of drugs.

Now I have a headache so I am going to take an aspirin.

Later Gaters,
Frank
