I thought I would start a discussion area for exercises from Lucia's website and book. We'll try some creative journaling exercises to help nurture and soothe our Inner Child.

It would probably be a good idea to start with a clean notebook or journal, for the doodling, coloring, and writing.

LET'S BRING THAT INNER CHILD OUT INTO THE LIGHT AND BACK TO LIFE!

EXERCISE: Turn your attention inward and ask yourself:
How do I feel right now?

Close your eyes and meditate on the question for awhile. Pay attention to physical sensations and emotional feelings. See if any visual images or words come to mind which express how you feel at this moment in time.

While your eyes were closed, you may have seen images, colors, words, or symbols. Or you simply may have felt some physical sensations or emotions. Channel them out in any form or style: doodles, scribbles, shapes, textures, images, or words.

When you are finished, look over what you have done. Do you have any reactions? If so, write them down on the next page in your journal.

Uses: This is perhaps the basic and most often-used exercise in Creative Journal-keeping. It is especially helpful when you have very powerful feelings that are difficult to handle. You can pinpoint exactly how you feel and then examine and clarify what you want to do with your feelings in everyday life. This exercise encourages you to pause and reflect, to discharge or release feelings, to sort out and clarify and, perhaps, articulate more clearly where you're at.

-------------------

We can work on these (play at these!) at our leisure, and feel free to post your thoughts, feelings, reactions to the Exercise. I think we can trust each other here as a group to not judge anyone else's posts, whatever comes out. If you want to do the Exercise and not post, that is completely fine too.

Let's get started!!

I'm glad, Susan. I sincerely hope this helps all of us, and we have fun, too!

I just thought of this - if anyone wants to post their doodles or drawings too, that would be great!

hopeful
alive
ready to grow
desiring to know
yet willing to let go

Barb ~ This is a great list, it's like a poem!

I especially love, desiring to know, yet willing to let go.
And, all the colors of living.

Glad you feel this way, Barb. It's exciting...!

Yeah Barb, this really is beautiful. I love the "desiring to know yet willing to let go." And "a new way of being, a new way of seeing all the colors of living." It is so simple yet so profound.

Carol,
Thank you so much for starting this discussion! I would love to do this, and will post my exercises as I do them -- it's finding the time that is hard for me, but I know I can make time for my "IK" (Inner Kid, as Bev calls it :-)).

Hi Carol,
I'll be hopping on board too here. A discussion group here, along with gratitude and inner
child work, seems to be the perfect place that my IK needs.
Love to you all. Thank you for sharing your hearts and souls! It so helps me in my own process!

Great, Beverly, glad you'll be joining us! We'll work on the first exercise, which Lucia says is a basic one, and any other exercise anyone would like to post from her book or website.
