Ever Had a "Super" Dream? Where You Created Something Fantastic?

Something Dan said in the last chat reminded me of this- Have you ever had a "Super" dream, where you woke up and knew you had created something fantastic artistically, but you could or couldn't recapture it when you awoke?

Mine was an epic poem, a long one that flowed and inspired and was just magical, and I knew it was my life's opus, but when I woke up I was only able to get down two lines of it before it evaporated away, lost to me for good, like grains of sand pouring through my fingers. I almost cried. I was so certain it was good, very good. How frustrating to have lost it!

How about you? Were you able to capture your vision or not?

Lin, I've definitely had dreams where I've written songs and they're the best songs I've ever heard! In the dream I keep singing them over and over to try to imprint them in memory, because a part of me knows I'm in a dream, and I want to remember the songs when I wake up, so I'm doing all I can to absorb the song. Doesn't work though! Songs are very difficult to remember from dreams, whereas images I find far easier to recall...

A song must be the most difficult to capture- it's invisible. You'll have a hit on your hands if you remember one! Maybe you can try prompting yourself to remember one every night as you drift off to sleep. With enough repetitions, it might work... I have heard of this technique being used for other problem solving issues.

I had a dream one time where I invented some sort of strange thing ... pretty sure I wrote it down, although the contraption itself I don't think was as important as the feelings during the process of creating it. I'll see if I can find it and post it and review the meanings, I just forgot all about that one until seeing this discussion ..

Be interested to hear more about it Barb, especially the feelings!

Funny you should bring this up, Barb...for the sixth of the senses on, I tried to recapture a dream art experience I had the night before...but it is totally not what was in the dream...

In the dream, I was observing a group of girls who were cutting holes out of tied dyed t-shirts...I asked if I could try making one too and it was such an awesome experience to do so...

In real life, I realized that I could use this dream as the sixth sense idea....it is called "sensing holeyness' but does not look tie-dyed at all...but it does have lots of holes in it with colors all around the holes...

I think the deadline for this piece is coming up any day now, so it needs my attention!
Thanks for reminding me to share this dream and for reminding me about finishing that last part of the senses project!

Oh, Barb, I think I would be upset too!

Do you still have the few lines that you did remember? Maybe you can play with those words and make connections and come up with the waking dream opus....or....

Maybe some day a similar dream will occur again and you will have your life's opus all ready to publish! : )

LOL ... it was really a silly gadget, I remember part of it was made from a vacuum cleaner ... but with it, one could fly :)

Speaking of flying, I think it's just awesome that Phoenix landed on Mars!

A pretty important gadget then, Barb, especially with what flying means in dreams...
