According to jungian psychology every person and object in our dreams represents an aspect of ourselves. In other words, we don't dream about others, only ourselves.

(I have found this to be true - except in the case of prophetic dreams when I have dreamt about what is going to happen to other people and it has.)

Taking this idea as a starting point, I have developed the following way to interpret my dreams: First I write the dream down and then I write it out again putting the whole thing into the first person and inserting descriptions of what comes to mind.

e.g.

I dreamt of a table and chairs
I am a table, I feel flat. I am a chair. I feel sat upon...

I didn't really dream this but you get the idea. Try it next time you are stuck with a dream interpretation and share how you get on.

Wow, what a great way to interpret a dream! I can't wait to try this.

Thanks for sharing...will you be sharing some of your own interpretations?

I use the Jungian method to interpret my dreams as well and it is great. Thanks Wild Cherry. It was well explained.

Do you find it works for you, Susan?

I find the Jungian method definitely works for me Wild Cherry.
I don't do a lot of dream interpretation but I love dreaming. At the moment i keep getting woken by my dreams so able to see them which is great.

Haven't been dreaming much lately, Mary - too tired! But if I dream one in the near future that isn't too long to type up, I will definitely share it.

Look forward to hearing how you get on in the meantime!

I had never thought of that Wild Cherry, but it makes sense. Hey I dreamed of rice, I am rice, I am in a Chinese stir-fry LOL! Tell more about your prophetic dreams please...

Can be...I am rice...I am nice...too nice? I am food, food for thought, sustenance...etc. Only you can know when u hit the right interpretation Lin. Perhaps you are in a stir-fry...stirred up? Or egg-fried? Hmm, this is making me hungry!...I'm supposed to be at my easel on the last lap of Handless Maiden 1...euuugghhhh...I want it to be over!

My prophetic dreams have generally not been very nice:-(

Too nice ran a bell. Sometimes I flip over and become a bitch for no reason to counteract it. I am stirred up and scrambled with what is going on medically for me lately, and scared. But hungry too! Hey I missed lunch too! Hope the Maiden will be getting her finishing touches today- can't wait to see! Be sure and give a heads up when that is so we can go look!

Prophetic dreams are often not nice or pleasant...

Whatever rings a bell is probably the clue, Lin. I forgot to say that dreams often use rhymes and rather weak jokes and wordplays in their symbolism - that's why I suggested rice-nice...Its good to look out for these kinds of word games as clues to interpreting.

Maiden is on holiday! I need a break...see my CCS blog later.

Yesterday's dreams (naptime ones) told me I felt over exposed. Two or three times during the dreams I was on the toilet, and suddenly the stall was removed ... I actually held up a piece of toilet paper I had been wiping with so that, too, could be inspected by the curious ... LOL!
