Animals in dreams could be tied in with animal totems. The animals which appear in your dreams may be attempting to teach special qualities. Here's a site which has a dictionary of animal totem meanings.

Which animals have visited you...and did they help with recognising aspects of yourself? Or any other interpretation??

I often dream of my dogs being in danger or injured in some way. I've had one vivid dream in which my dogs, some pit bulls, and a Bengal tiger played important roles. I'm still working out the meanings of that one.

Hi Barbara. Funnily, I dreamt of tigers and dogs last night!! I'm not up in dream analysis. I had a look at the info under totem animals and for these, I got this info:

DOG:- teaches friendship and compassion balanced with playfulness

Tiger:- expect new adventures. An awakening to a new power within and greater self confidence.

OK I'm ready for the new adventure. How about you??

I used to have a lot of dreams with cats attacking me, maybe 1 a week or something. I was never badly injured but I couldn't fend them off, they were ferocious, worse than dogs! In reality I actually like cats and don't really like dogs much...

Hi Dan. I had a look for cat in totem animals.

CATS:- help teach courage and confidence. Cats show you how to continue the process of opening up your intuition

A couple of nights ago I dreamt of a peacock.

PEACOCK:- for balance and strength, greater wisdom and more ability to see the beauty around you. Dignity. Take pride in your talents.

Totemism suggests the animal visits you when its time for you to learn from that animals qualities. You are ready to learn its lessons. How? Don't know but its fun exploring this ancient wisdom.

Last night I dreamed that I found an old cat that had been living on the streets, it's fur was going grey. I decided to take it to the vet to get it checked over for fleas and worms. We travelled on the train. That's all I can remember.

I can see how some of it came about:
It was a restless sleep last night. I'd been to Liverpool on the train with a friend & our 2 daughters to see an exhibition about colour at the Tate Gallery. I enjoyed the trip but probably felt over-stimulated yet drained when I went to bed from all the conversation, theory at the gallery, and the exuberance of the kids. I read a newspaper on the train coming back and it there was an article about a woman being reunited with her dog after it had disappeared for a long time, she said it looked just the same only much older. It was a black dog going grey. Interesting that in the dream the dog has become a cat.

I read the interpretation for cats in the link June gives:

CATS:
"mysteries will unfold in life if a cat has come around.

cats show how to clarify perceptions which allows new ideas to manifest........aids in being resourceful......cat will show you how to continue the process of opening your intuition for soul growth".

I love that. I like my totem, I hope it comes again.
