All ideas are welcome,

I decided last night that it was time I got to work on a collage-I just found some old English 'Womans Weeklies' from 1950 and decided before I threw them, to keep a few snippets for my hall of memories. They were mostly cut out and dog eared , as someone beat me to it, and most of the images back in 1950 were in black and white, except for a few advertisements for ladies stockings and a few short stories...

This is just for fun, and it sure beats being bored with my computer! Very sticky hands ensued, and I basically worked direct and just went for flow and color tie up in some way...

It's not finished yet, I pasted onto heavy watercolor paper, so I can maybe do some washy backgrounds, though I feel rather peaceful with the white bits-perhaps a few ink doodles, we'll see...

Before I clicked to join the Collage Group 1 minute ago, I read most all of the replies and discussions among everyone for the past year. It almost scared me away. Then I decided that I wanted to become more of a collage artist and there are no rules to follow. Waiting for an order of beeswax to arrive next week, which I plan to use as the final coating on whatever I decide to collage. It might be something suitable for hanging, sitting pretty on a table, or to keep me company while I endlessly peruse the CCS site on Saturday nights. If anyone has done bees wax collages before, I would love to hear from you for tips on how to keep things artistic and not too messy. Glad to be joining such a motley crew - and, please know, I say that very lovingly.

Try this site for some insight on not creating art for fear of messing it up: www.chrisdunmire.com

tearee, my best thought on overcomming that fear is to just do it- after doing it a few times you come to find out that fear was nothing but a boogie-man. Once you know that in your heart as well as intellectually the fear loses its crippling power. :-)

Tearee, one of the things I've learned from CCS is to let go of perfectionism (yes, I know it's hard to do) ... and not expect things to happen as we envision they will on the first try. And often when mistakes do happen, they can be "happy accidents" that lead us into unknown territory that we might not have thought of or attempted. It does take a bit of bravery to use liquid media as it's not as easy to control ... but letting go of control is where creativity often flourishes!

tearee, do some just for fun things to experiment on. Start an art journal where you play with your fears then you will be able to make good decisions about the pieces you love!

I joined today hoping to learn some new technigues. Like being brave enough to add paint to enhance the paper elements---I don't want to mess up something I love already, but I it's not finised. This happens alot and things get left unfinished. Any tips on overcomming my fear?

I hope you all will "get up and boogie!" as that is what keeps us doing! LOL
