Here's my first ideas for some kind of collage on the theme of Persephone (Proserpina), sometimes known as queen of the underworld and wife of Pluto/Hades/Dis. Demeter refused to let spring come until her daughter was returned to her ...temporarily every year.

I thought I'd use the theme of ancient myths as inspiration as time goes by and you might like to join me. I'm not calling this one a challenge just something we could return to now and again, just like Persephone...

It's always great to have a prompt to get the creative juices flowing, isn't it? This sounds like a fun theme. I may have to do a collage or two over at Polyvore with a myth theme. I'm like Carol and Susan, though, I'd have to look some stuff up and take time to allow for the learning curve.

Hey, sounds like fun. I am not very familiar with myths however, so would be at a disadvantage with this theme.

I'm reading: "The Celtic Tree Calendar" by Michael Vescoli.

It's a lovely little, illustrated, book about the Celts who arrived in Europe about 3,000 yrs ago & their circular tree calendar. He says: "...a perfect circle has been a symbol of the soul since time immemorial."

I recommend a dip into the link given above all about the Rowan tree & how it has been seen by ancient & modern peoples....I particularly like the Rowan tree as we had one growing outside our family home when I was growing up, in fact it's still there...but much bigger now of course. My little book on Celtic Trees led me to this this new interest. In the Vescoli book it says that the Rowan is associated with two parts of the Celtic calendar (one of them being when my birthday falls during April) however i note some variation of dates and tree types on various rowan tree sites. I'm adopting the Rowan as my tree anyhows!
