Sometimes what stops us being more creative is not our natural abilities, the materials we have, the time we make available or the ideas we gather.

Even if we have ALL of these elements in place, if we don't feel positive and enthused about creating — and about ourselves — it's going to be an uphill struggle.

So this Creativity Cookie is called Positivity Perk-Up and will help you realise just how much you can be positive about in your creative life.

Head over to Creativity-Portal right away to get the full cookie, try it for yourself, then pop back here and share your thoughts and experiences with us here in this discussion...

Malinda, I like that idea of meditation milk, milk and cookies... Hmm, wonder what I can create out if that...

I look forward to seeing your positivity perk up list...

Fantastic list Malinda!

How does it feel saying "she loves to experiment with ART" versus saying "I love to experiment with ART" for example. What's the difference in how it feels when you say it?

Reply to This

I guess its some sort of hang up I have
I feel like I'm bragging the other way
and this way I'm talking about the creative person in me
I do have that dual thing going on all the time
that internal dialogue
its part of what makes me the CRAZY person that I love
I talk to myself all the time ESPECIALLY when I'm doing ART
I often admire the way she knows just what to add sometimes and sometimes I want to argue with her but things always turn out better when I give it over to her
and sometimes I even laugh at her choices and she laughs right back at me
sometimes I get stuck on a creative path and I just trust her to take over and she keeps going
this may not make sense to anyone but its true

It doesn't have to make sense to be effective...

It's interesting how you've developed this artistic alter ego within you, and when you think about, it's a common expression anyway. We may say "the writer in me wants to make this into a story" or "the minimalist in me wants to throw out all my possessions" or whatever, we acknowledge there are different sides and elements to our personalities in everyday conversation. Which is what you've done with your creative personality.

How many extra positive statements did you come up with when you asked the objective question: "if I asked a close friend of mine what my greatest positive strengths and assets were, what would they say?”

Reply to This

they're all worked in
because the answers to that question were
she's so crazy!
she's fun!
she makes me laugh!
she's so creative!
she's so sweet!
and then
she's so smart, brilliant even, reliable, dependable,
if you need something to get done, give it to Malinda
I could go on and on :-) LOL
but I tried to stick to the creative stuff
(I didn't add the "she's so creative" because I figured that would be redundant since the whole list is about being creative...)

Reading all this reminds me of a quote by Buckminster Fuller:

There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly.

I Love this Mary and never heard it before!
I can so use this at work! We have often found this truth in hiring people that didn't do so well in their interviews and some of our best employees were real caterpillars in their interviews, we had no way of knowing they would turn into the butterflies they are!
I will also find a way to use this in my April Theme letter which I have already titled "SpringDazzled"
thanks dear
you've inspired me! :-)

so, where's your list Mary? :-)
I could start one for you
here's the part about what others say about you:

Mary is a sweetheart, she just is!
She has a great sense of humor and has made me laugh on numerous occasions at Florabelle's.
She has an inner strength and beauty that makes you smile to know her because to know her is to see the resiliance in people who love life unconditionally!
She has a strong faith and that is how she is able to love life unconditionally!
She is very fun loving, I can tell because she loves to play and probably wants to jump on her bed when she's happy!
She is a very giving person, I can tell, because she wears her heart on her sleeve and people that do that would give you their whole heart!
She's adventurous, I know that because she loves the beach, ocean, mermaids, and people who love those things are adventurous!
all this and we just barely met a month or two ago, that's all a part of that being very giving - she holds nothing back
shall I continue??? :-)

Wow. Mary must be a really cool person! Here's my take on her:

I'm a free spirited, fun loving person to everyone - what you see is what you get!
I'm very creative and people enjoy working with me because I have wonderful ideas for their projects.
I am proud to be called my pre-teen's friend, not just his mother.
I beam with pride every time I hear my husband preach, knowing that he has found his calling and is doing exactly what he should be doing.
I am a good writer, and an especially good speller.
I am a very creative cook, and love using a pan for a palette!
I am a gardener who loves to "rearrange the palette" to suit my taste.
I am a musician, and practice the piano every day in order to improve my skills.

Does this work for a start? All I can think of now are "I need tos" or "I don'ts!"

Thanks for the kick in the pants, Malinda. Next time, could you be gentler?!
Malinda-

We already know you are a totally creative person. I'm just glad you know that too!
