Our beliefs about how creative we are define how creative we are going to be. Your beliefs are the equivalent of a glass ceiling on your creativity’s rocket ship. If that ceiling is so low you bang your head every time you even try to stand up, let alone launch a rocket ship, then it’s no surprise you’re not reaching anywhere near your creative potential.

This Creativity Cookie is called “Belief Berry Booster” and will help you start to give your creative self belief the boost it needs to reach new levels.

Head over to Creativity Portal for the full Cookie, try it out for yourself, then head back here to share your comments and experiences.

My beliefs about my creativity have changed so much since being at CCS. I had a very limited idea of my creativity and didn't see that I was being creative in a lot of areas of my life. I am doing more things and am inspired by CCS members

I've always been creative since childhood but stopped doing creative things as an adult when I was earning a living as it seemed frivolous to "waste" time doing art or writing or crafts. By the time I got home I was zoned out and fit for nothing but mindless activities like TV. Not that I've retired and discovered CCS, I am letting the creative side out to play and enjoying it immensely. But now I have a new problem- people say I'm doing too much fun stuff and not enough of the boring stuff like housekeeping. One friends really chides me for being on the computer and doing art projects so much, but it is what gives me joy. I am finding a hard time keeping a balance between the fun stuff and the mundane. Any tips?

Lin, I'd suggest revisiting the Creativity Life Wheel in the Explode Your Creativity workbook you get when you signed up to my ezine Lin. If you can't locate it, download here:

Explode Your Creativity

It's a powerful model you can use over and over, and adapt to use in different areas of your life as well as your whole life overall...

Let me know if you have any questions on how to use it, but I think you'll find it self explanatory. Let me know how you get on...

Lin, I do mundane chores in really small increments of time. I do the weeding for 5 - 10 minutes and then go back to the fun stuff. I do the dusting while I talk on the phone. I do the dishes in short bits too. I always look forward to something fun after I'v done a chore. I do a lot of meditating and mindfulness during chores and I am really enjoying the time

Those are good tips Susan- I'll start using them! Thanks!

The Fly Lady web site suggests setting a timer for fifteen minutes and just doing what can be done in that amount of time. I've not tried it, but it's surprising what you can get done in fifteen minutes of focused work. I think I'll try that for cleaning/organizing my art supplies room ... do it every day for a week and see what happens. I sure know what you mean about how messy the house can get when you're really involved in creating!

The timer idea is workable too- I have a timer right in the kitchen a few steps away! I bet I'll get a lot more done. Cool idea!

The timer is a great idea. i have been doing creative work for 12 minutes a day and it is amazing what you get done in 12 minutes. I've never tried it with cleaning but a fair bit could be achieved. I couldn't stand doing cleaning for an hour or more at a time.

My unit is being painted at the moment so there is chaos everywhere. i'm glad I'm staying at mums. Apparently the painter says he cleans up as well. Great painter

Oh, Susan -- what havoc in your life! I hope that the painter was "true to his word" and that going back home will be an easy transition for you. My love to you and your Mum. XO
