WildCherry and I had this message discussion about what to put on the calendar. I would like everyone else's input as well.

I agree that there is no point in just putting any old thing on...though we can always take them off!

I thought that maybe it needed filling up a bit at the beginning so people get the idea that there is something happening...It would be good if a wide range of people joined the group so I don't want to limit the kinds of competitions on there too much...

But I do agree that some sort of criteria is needed. I was thinking just to go by instinct as much as possible...you know, ones that sound well-run, professional...ideally that you don't have to pay to enter or at least not much, ones that are open to anyone regardless of nationality if poss or at least have a wide cachement..

Perhaps we should be posting about this after all...Malinda and I did vaguely begin to discuss this on an earlier post. Feel free to cut and paste this into a discussion somewhere or I'll do it in a couple of days as I won't be on the net for a day or two...

So great that I'm not the only one thinking about this, thanks Anne:-)

I must say, I never imagined there would be so much stuff out there! I'm beginning to see the need for different calendars according to discipline i.e. one for writers, one for mixed media, one for jewellery etc but that sounds confusing in itself. Any sensible suggestions as to how we might organise all this? I think we are all feeling overwhelmed already!

Maybe the best thing would be to put up links to contests as we find them. Then when one of us commits to a contest or competition we could put that on the calendar and that person could start a discussion to track their progress. I'm new to competitions so I would like to only focus on one at a time, but maybe someone else would like to enter a bunch. Just my input.

There are certainly a lot of competitions out there even now...I suppose we could just put stuff on and then if it gets too crowded start culling...but I do think maybe Anne is right and we need some criteria...
