What Are The Creative Themes You Keep Returning To?

In your art, what themes, ideas, concepts, and topics to find yourself keep being drawn back to?

It could be certain objects, or colours or places, or it could be themes like loss or immortality, or forgiveness.

Share with us your themes, and why you feel you're drawn to them...

Keep it with you! I use my phone which is brilliant as I can take pictures, movies, record sound or just save words and phrases I come up with as a draft text message. I'd be WAY less creative without it always with me to capture stuff I'm inspired by...

I want to get a small DV camera when finances allow, as film is definitely a large untapped area of creativity that keeps calling me back. Have too many movie ideas that involve a large cast and sets though ha ha!

While I love art just for the sake of being great art.. I do love to be practical.. and I love to turn everyday things into something special.. I love to get a great bargain not because I have very little money although that is true but it makes me feel even more creative.. for the fact is anyone who had the money could go out and buy a nice pillow but it's art and creative to make your own original.. you know? I am also heavily into not wasting.. I like to recycle or up cycle .. the new term I have become aware of recently thanks to this site... which means to turn trash into cash or useful things.. or art.. which I think is not only fun and really cool but it's good for the environment..

Thanks Karitiger...you have helped me immensely just now! I was reading a book and the author suggested that we all have undercurrent themes that run through our lives, from childhood to adulthood. It is just that we get so busy with life that we often fail to see them. I have not been seeing mine, but what you just wrote really turned on the lightbulb!...yes- my entire life I have returned to making something new out of something old- or changing one item into another- making this work for that.

It is funny, I only recently heard the term up-cycle...but I have been doing that since I was 9 and made a barbie outfit out of a candy wrapper. LOL
