Permalink Reply by Anne Westlund on November 6, 2011 at 22:29 Yes, I go to the library about 2 or 3 times a month. I went yesterday and got a DK History Book for teenagers. I like my history books with pictures! Lots of people use our little library to get books, movies, and music or to use the computers. I hope you are well, Susan.

Anne,
How lovely to see you here. I am glad you enjoy the library as well. you go more often than I do. I buy a lot of my books from Amazon otherwise I would be ordering books at the library all the time.
I loved borrowing children's books and learnt a lot. haven't done it in a while. Hope you are well too

Permalink Reply by Julia on November 7, 2011 at 3:10 I actually enjoy the excitement of flicking to the next page, especially in an illustrated book...
My favorite site is abebooks.com They have new and used books at a very reasonable price, including delivery....I just bought 4 of Eschers books, delivered to my door from the UK, for $27 Aud...now that's what I call a bargain!
Julia,
I used to use libraries more but now buy most of my reading material online. I get most of it from america as it is so much cheaper. Not good for australia or australian bookshops

Permalink Reply by gwen gibson on March 31, 2012 at 17:46 I often read e-books on my Kindle because I can make the text larger, but I go to the library for art books. Yesterday I took out a book of Van Gogh's paintings because I want to study "mark making". I'll probably take out a book on Mark Tobey next.

I am here at CCS everyday but sometimes just can't jump into the chats so don't comment but I see what is going on. Hoping to do the questions every couple of days for a bit of fun and to get feedback.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY my dear friend. what are you doing for your birthday or what did you do?

Permalink Reply by Francina on November 9, 2011 at 3:55 Hi Susan. Thought I'd chime in here and tell you how we use the library. I home school my children and rather than buy curriculum, I get our books from the library. Each week or two I order about fifty books and some videos online and then a week later I go to the library where they have a couple of crates waiting for me behind the desk. They are always very happy to see me when i arrive so they can clear their area of all those books.
Permalink Reply by Dan Goodwin on November 9, 2011 at 8:40 I don't use the library enough, I'm ashamed to say. And my dayjob is literally on the same campus as the public library. A month ot two ago, my partner and I took her duaghter for the first time, and we were amazed at how many books they have for children. I think I'm reluctant because I usually take ages to read a book and wouldn't want to keep renewing it. I donate all but my most essential and valued books after I've read them, and often by used copies in the first place. I have maybe 30 on my shelf that are keepers, maybe less.
Good question!
Permalink Reply by Julia on November 9, 2011 at 9:46 You would be appalled at my book hoarding Dan! LOL Many of my late dads, plus I am a confessed bookaholic...I dare not show you my bookcases.....I hope!
Permalink Reply by Dan Goodwin on November 9, 2011 at 10:32 I wouldn't be appalled. I love bookshelves full of books, I love libraries. I just choose not to purchase them all and store them all myself.
