What part does faith play in your creative life?

I'm not talking exclusively about a spiritual or religious faith, though for some that's a significant element of creating, and life.

Do you have faith in your own abilities to create what you hope to create?

Do you have faith that given time, and space and the right attention that your creative projects will evolve exactly as they need to?

Do you have faith that there will be a receptive audience to what you create?

Do you have faith that you will always be able to create?

totally with you on this ang... and its great to be emotional.. as my mother says "its a release"... better out than in!! 8)

I get much more out of supporting, loving and nurturing others. I have never really put myself at the centre of anything in terms of receiving.. . i do believe "in giving we receive".

hope you are feeling ok today xxx

Jane, I also find I receive so much by putting giving first. I am always so humbled by peoples gifts and sharing with me particularly here at CCS.

Jane and DJ....good grief.....I am blushing from your kind comments. It is nearly 1am here and how nice it is to be sitting here alone and being bathed in such love and care. I love my online friends. I think you are both wonderful too. I am so blessed to have you and others in my life. You make my days.

I have just been reading Phil Cousineau's book Stoking the Creative Fire. Great book! This seems to fit in quite well here with this discussion. Maybe its that we are born with a 'fire' and we choose whether to stoke it or not, but it doesn't leave us alone, because we need to create to feel fulfilled - to be more of ourselves. And yes, faith plays a central role here I feel - because in order to create we need to just do it, and like with anything in life we cannot know where it will lead, but thats also its mystery and delight. I would say faith that we are always accompanied on our creative journeys, and that the journey and the faith will lead us onward. We just have to be willing to show up in whichever ways we can, whenever we can. And our art/creativity in whichever form it takes is a contribution to the world which is valuable and unique because it comes from us and we are each unique.

Skylark, Nice to meet you. Can you tell me a bit more about the book of Phil's that you are reading. It sounds like one I might like. Does it have exercises to do or assignments?

Nice to meet you too Susan. Yes there are exercises and assigments throughout the book. You may be able to 'search inside' at Amazon - I'm not sure. Its called Stoking the Creative Fires - 9 ways to rekindle passion and imagination'. Hope this helps x

Makes lots of sense to me Skylark.

Especially your last two sentences, a wonderful call to creativity for all of us, it's our privilege and our duty!

Thanks Dan. Yes, you're right - our privilege and duty. Its good to remember that. I have more time this week so can get my head round this sort of thing but usually things are so busy workwise, the spirit is willing but the energy flags.....

and here at ccs we are especially fortunate to be accompanied by so many wonderful and supportive creative people. Yes you are right - everything we create IS unique and valuable - small contributions to the world are like the proverbial pebble in a pond - the ripples reach out further .....
