Dear friend,
I have pronounced cycles of super creative time and then quiet time on a 10 to 21 day cycle. I was interested to know how other peoples cycles are. Do you have creative and quiet times or are you creative all the time. How do you deal with the cycles? How do you cope when you aren't being creative? I find the time when I am quiet and uncreative except for my writing the most challenging. I love being creative. i'd love to read your reactions to this post.
lots of love from susan in australia
PS The photo is one of my first bracelets. I just learnt the other day how to do them

That's an idea I will try- thanks WildCherry
Hey, Cherry! I finally tried the belly dance DVD about two nights ago and it was very fun. You're right! -- there are so many muscles involved in the whole torso. I have an unusually long torso and short legs so belly dancing seems like it may help my core strength a lot, which suffers while sitting and from being so long to start with! I'm going to try more when my hip scarf comes. The music is like trance music in a way, and I really like it too. You're right - you can't listen to it and stay still. Thanks, Cherry!

Great to hear Fiona! What DVD did you get? I've got a good one...I think its called Belly Dancing Basics but I'll check when I go downstairs. It has about two and a half hours tuition on it...Lets get shimmying!

I always thought this would be a great song to belly dance to:

Yes, I think it would work...

All right! Btw, WildCherry, I made a Belly Dance group over in Crossing Borders here if you'd like to come over to the corner and discuss Belly Dance for fun! ^_^

If you know anyone else, can you pass on the word?

Glad you are doing belly dancing WC

Had another random thought about cycles yesterday...They are not just about creating and not creating but also about what we create and how...e.g. the themes/materials/iconography we use...I find myself cycling back to ideas or themes or materials that I have had in my mind for a long time or explored before and not arrived at satisfaction with....I think Robyn calls them 'Breeder ideas'...things we return to over and over. I feel a sense of homecoming when I come back to an idea I've been toying with for a long time and I suddenly know how to make it work or how to develop it further...I'm in that phase right now :-)

Neat, Wild Cherry! It's amazing to me how we are attracted to create some things and don't even realize it sometimes. Over in the Mandala Oasis group, the subject of using foam core board came up, and I posted a photo of a design class final project I created back in '91 that was made from foam core ... then Lin pointed out that to her, it looks like a creativity mandala. That simple statement brought it home to me that I've had this mandala attraction for a lot longer than I thought :)

yeah, Barb, weird when you suddenly discover a theme goes way back further than you thought...

Yes this is a great tangent Cherry! The themes we keep returning to in our creative work.

In fact I think we need a separate discussion : )

Hi Susan, I've been meaning to study my creative cycle for years because i can definitely sense that there are specific times that I am in the flow and others I would call sluggish to say the least. One thing for sure is hottest times of the year here in S Africa and I'm down right miserable. Once I sense Autumn is on her way my work flows. Autumn is my most productive time of the year. Great topic Susan and I love your bracelet.
