I know well that sinking feeling of dread when you see smoke!

... my Dell was about a year old when we had electrical problems with a car hitting a pole in front of our house and breaking the ground wire that went to our house, unbeknownst to the power company ... after they had done all their fixing, the power came on in the early morning hours as I was making coffee, and I heard a sound from my computer room (speakers crackling) ... rushed in there to see smoke coming from the tower and as my heart was sinking I was diving under the desk to UNPLUG immediately. I thought the computer was toast. But thankfully all that had to be replaced was the power supply!
