Sometimes what stops us being more creative is not our natural abilities, the materials we have, the time we make available or the ideas we gather.

Even if we have ALL of these elements in place, if we don't feel positive and enthused about creating — and about ourselves — it's going to be an uphill struggle.

So this Creativity Cookie is called Positivity Perk-Up and will help you realise just how much you can be positive about in your creative life.

Head over to Creativity-Portal right away to get the full cookie, try it for yourself, then pop back here and share your thoughts and experiences with us here in this discussion...

Ok, here goes:

I am a good writer.
I express myself clearly.
I have a good sense of humor, which shows in my creations.
I'm open to new ideas to help fuel my creativity.
I'm organized so I (almost) always know where my materials and supplies are.
I like to plan my projects.
I'm good with computers, which boosts my creative output.
I like to learn and take classes.
I have a willingness to set goals and try new things.
I'm disciplined.
I have a standing goal to finish my projects.
I have a long history of creativity in arts/crafts and writing that gives me the confidence to create today.
I'm willing to show my work and take credit for my work by signing my name to it.
I'm good at writing poetry, short stories, essays, plays and novels.
I do my own thing.
I'm good at crochet and stitching-on-cards.
I'm good at making beads and jewelry.
I'm good at combining colors (bead-making).
I create my own patterns.
I put a lot of love into my creations and am generous with them.
I can solve problems, creative or otherwise.
I never give up completely on my creative projects.
I'm able to express thoughts and emotions through my creations I can't express in other ways.
My strengths in writing are plotting, dialogue, and metaphor.

From others:

I'm detail-oriented, productive, a hard worker and persistent.
I'm a "gifted cook".
I'm "always writing" something.
I'm "literate".

And...I'm brilliant! see above post!

Thank you Malinda!

It feels kind of weird writing all these affirmations down. It's like I'm writing about someone else. Hmmmmm. What if Malinda's and mine creative selves got together. I wonder what they could do. Something structured with polka dots? I love polka dots by the way. I have a white scarf with black polka dots and a really cute brown top with pink polka dots. Now you know!

Fantastic Anne, what a great list, and even better that you're able to write those things down. You come across as someone very at peace with their creative talents and confident in how creativity flows through everything you do. Well done!

Thanks Dan!

This is a good exercise for us to focus on the good stuff instead of thinking about what we didn't get done today, this week, or this year, which is where I'm at often. I wrote down all these affirmations on index cards.

That's great Anne, well done on embracing this cookie so whole heartedly... I like your idea of taking the affirmations to the next step by writing them out on cards. The more you use them and say them, the more you'll be reminded of how much positive stuff you've got going for you...

There'll be plenty more tasty bites in the weeks and months to come...

I am loving everything I'm reading here!!!

However ... I don't feel like I can do it today. I am procrastinating! This is strange. I saw the post yesterday, and thought I'd get back to it because I felt I was "so busy".

I got back to it, and then I thought , no ... this is so easy, I'll wait until somebody else goes first.

And now, I read others responses, and really begin to think about making those types of statements about myself ... and it *isn't* easy. And the things I think of right off the bat have to do with how I help others look at things creatively. And right now, I am thinking I would rather blame my procrastination on the lack of "natural abilities, the materials we have, the time we make available or the ideas we gather." than to write this list.

I am going to think about this some more and get back to you all!
