Hi,
My friend and I have a back and forth blog. There is a question for you there: http://boogiechicks.wordpress.com/2008/10/21/a-musing-2/

Here it is in the body of this forum post:
In my experience, the truly creative just CREATE. It is, for them, like breathing. When can you be considered an actual “creative”, and when are you playing the role of creative? What defines a creative person? Must you produce? Publish? Be open to “notes”? (Tee hee). Is there a spectrum of creativity? Must it be limited to the visual, musical, or dramatic arts, or can you be a relational creative?

I feel every living being is constantly creating and being creative ... it is like breathing. We're co-creating every moment we live. I don't believe in putting creativity into categories (though I realize that's what humans like to do best :) or otherwise limiting creativity by saying this one is creative and that one is not. Creating and destroying are intrinsic to life in my humble opinion :)

We are creating every moment we live, don't you think? Every decision is sculpting our reality in one direction or another, in ways large or small. If people never talked about creativity, we'd be missing out on new processes we might never have thought of for ourselves but which might work smashingly for us. So thank God they do and there are so many good books about the subject! As far as limits, to heck with that. I scoff at limits. Creativity is about stretching limits, even breaking them.

This topic comes up time to time here at CCS. I also believe that everyone is creative...it is just that creativity is too often associated with the arts. My Mom insistes that she is not creative- but she swes clothes and has the most beautiful color co-ordinated garden. I have a friend who says he is not creative- yet he cooks and comes up with the most tasty and visually appealiong things in the world. My other friend says she is not creative, yet she is always awesomein making plans for and having parties- she leaves nothing out..
We are all creative, in our unique, individual way. It is just a matter of recognizing it and celebrating it. I do not think anything actually has to be produced to qualify it creative. I hope not anyway...because it is the process that I love- during the painting or collage that creativity flows highly. That happens weither the painting turns out to be a keeper or not.

You're right on there Jules...majority of people say they are not creative, and usually goes back to negative feedback in younger days...retain the child within- she always loves to play at creating :-) hug
